It’s not an option. Isak already has 3 years left on a contract that requires him to ‘knuckle down and play for us’. You said we should offer him a new contract to encourage him to start playing for us again. Can you imagine the precedent this would set? I’m all for sitting down with the player again (Eddie says the club have had many recent meetings with him) once the window shuts but, effectively, rewarding him for his unacceptable behaviour would be a disaster for the club.

So the upside is that he adheres to the contract he already has? Glad you’re not brokering deals for the club.

Don’t understand a keeper playing out like that. If the defender got the ball first he only has the option to play it back to the keeper, so why play that pass? Eddie would never have started him so soon.

The thing is that people like Deeney, if he were the manager/owner of a football club would be giving it the ‘let him rot in the reserves, f*ck his career’ patter. Shows a complete inability to understand the situation or see things from the club’s point of view. A contract is signed by two parties.

From Eddie’s latest interview he’s almost confirmed that Isak is lying about being promised an exit this window (he said the club’s statement was needed in this situation). My guess is that he said he wanted to move a while back and the club said we’d look at it later. If so, no broken promises by the club.
