League of Hate: Final Positions

Now that it looks like everyone is finished voting, let's have the final table. Over 500 responses to the poll makes it a pretty reasonable sample of Toon opinion, I'd say. The figure that follows the name is the number of votes each club received.

01. Mackems 373

02. Tottenham 352

03. West Ham 260

04. Man Utd 253

----------------------------

05. Chelsea 238

06. Liverpool 220

07. Middlesboro' 192

08. Everton 103

09. Bolton 57

10. Arsenal 53

11. Wigan 41

12. Birmingham 38

13. Blackburn 33

14. Aston Villa 25

15. Man City 19

16. Portsmouth  12

----------------------------

17. Fulham  8

18. Derby 3

19. Reading 3

Notes

*Tottenham are, by quite some distance, the most hated team after the Mackems – only 20 points behind the leaders and almost 100 ahead of Man U and the rest of the pack.

*We hate several London teams more than we can be bothered to hate the Smoggies.

*Fulham are our least hated London team, while Derby and Reading simply seem to be off the radar.

*Out of seven contenders in the north-west, Man City are our least hated club. But will they improve upon that position by season's end?

*We don't seem to have much of a problem with clubs from the Midlands, possibly because they're all crap. Birmingham understandably top the local pack.

Interesting, You lot would probably end up 4th on my made up list.

Hmmmm ok, im pretty sure if a list was conducted on a spurs site the results would look like:

1) Arsenal

2) West Ham

3) Chelsea

4) Newcastle

I've always intensely disliked Spurs and Jol's got nothing to do with it.

Me too, far more than Sunderland - who I'm fairly sympathetic to (or have been for the last 7/8 years).

I see Spurs as our rivals more than them lot down the road in the current climate.

Jenas doesn't help.

If I were to guess which clubs we hate and in which order, I think our top ten would be:

01. Retarded, knuckledragging, under-evolved disgrace to the city.

*fucking enormous gap*

02. Man United

03. West Ham

04. Liverpool

05. Chelsea

06. Boro

07. Spurs

08. Newcastle

09. Arsenal

10. Wigan

Two year ago I couldn't have given a toss about Spurs. I blame Kingdawson and Jermaine Jenas.

From my period attending games at SJP, I always remember there was a reasonable amount of needle between you and Spurs, but far more where West Ham were concerned.

There's some weird rivalries about that you wouldn't expect.

Not so long back I was talking to a Chelsea fan (it was some bloke off Big Brother actually, but I digress) and he said that Boro are still one of Chelsea's most hated rivals (among the faithful obviously) after Boro were the ones to relegate them in the late 80s.

In the Mag end of season review of 1992 (I think), Newcastle fans voted Cambridge United our most hated rivals other than the mackems. Sign of how far we've come really.

There was little to no competition between us in the league pre-Jol, and as a result I didn't notice much rivalry at all. In fairness I'm only talking about my lifespan here, which barely encompasses anything pre-prem in terms of memory.
