parry could be fucked here i reckon, he seems to have been pretty sly in all of this if he met klinsmann as well, im presuming rafa was under the impression that parry hadn't.

one of them will go i reckon, and i think it may be rafa

I've said for months that there is no chance of Rafa being manager next year. Parry will be gone soon, closely followed by Rafa depending on when their champions league run ends.

I think he'll have to win it to survive.

It has nothing to do with footballing reasons.  Getting past the group stages is enough for the Yanks, they are only interested in profit, finals just add more to that profit, apparently if Rafa gets to Moscow  that will be 100 million he's brought in by CL money alone over the last 4 years but getting to the knockout stages every year will still bring profits in.  Third or fourth league spot would satisfy the Yanks every year, just so we qualify for CL.

I think Rafa has had enough now, there's only so much you can do to let the fans know what's going on behind the scenes and he's stuck his neck out far enough.  Gillett and Parry want him out because he questions Parrys competence, rightly so, Hicks wants him in because he thinks it will get some of the fans on his side.

Rafa has taken enough s*** and knows he can walk in to a top European job tomorrow and few of us would blame him for doing it.

I'd be very suprised if he managed a club bigger than Liverpool anytime soon. No chnace of your Milans and Madrids taking him, he's not that good.

I think he is, if only for his very impressive champions league record.

Lets just forget his record for Valencia. Hardly done badly at Liverpool has he anyway?

In reality they would be queuing up for a manager who is on course for his third European Cup final appearance in four years.

If Benitez does stay and Liverpool invest heavily again, which they clearly need to do in order to compete under any manager, i think they'll go very close to the title.

I can see Rafa at Barca or Real tbh, no problem.

According to Guillem he'd never be accepted at Barca due to the brand of football his sides play.

That's bullshit though. His Valencia side played the kind of football that Arsenal do. And he's got two La Liga titles to show for it as well.

Benitez could quite fairly wonder what hes done wrong at the Pool , if someone had acheived the success hes had; at most other clubs, he'd be viewed as a God...

Liverpool (1) 1 Barnsley (0) 2

I'm pretty sure you could pick a result like that from any managers career.

Petty.

Still makes me laugh:

Hicks has now spoken

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has slammed chief executive Rick Parry's tenure at Anfield, labelling it a 'disaster'.

Last week, Hicks issued a letter to Parry calling for him to step down as the boardroom wrangling went public.

And in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports News, Hicks has blasted Liverpool's failure to compete commercially with their Premier League rivals.

"If you look at what has happened under Rick's leadership, it has been a disaster," he exclusively told Sky Sports News.

"We have fallen so far behind the other top clubs. The new stadium should have been built three or four years ago.

"We have two sponsors, maybe three. We should have 12 or 15. We are not doing anything in Asia the way Manchester United and Barcelona are.

"We have a tremendous number of fans in Asia. So we have got the top brand in the world of football, but we just don't know how to commercialise and get the money for it to use to buy great players.

"Rick needs to resign from Liverpool football club. He's put his heart into it, but it is time for a change."

This 50-50 joint ownership is an unusual arrangement, and with hindsight, always likely to lead to problems.

I wonder how much should be laid at the door of the ex-Chairman, David Moores. He dithered about selling up for ages, and then opted for this. The interesting thing is he was also the one who set up that equally strange and equally disastrous joint management partnership between Houllier and Evans. Is he just scared of decisions, and thinks that the safest way forward is to hedge his bets?

He took over as Chairman in 1991, and Liverpool have barely taken a forward step since.

I believe the premierleague is a good test to see how good a manager is. La Liga seems to be won every year by a different manager, therefore it's hard to get a real view on which ones are good. For example i don't rate Rikkard that highley.

Benitez has done well in the champions league and he is a great manager but the premie rleague is where it is at for Liverpool. He's had his chances and he still hasn't moved Liverpool forward (i.e a title challenge). I don't think he would get a job at Madrid etc because they would looking for a world class manager such as Mourihno.

I'm not saying Benitez isn't great but he's no Mourinho, Wenger or Fergy which is the standard the top clubs should be looking for.

If the premier league is the yardstick then Ferguson is out on his own and the other two are not even close to him.
