In chronological order:

Owen -- Souness

Martins -- Roeder

Faye -- Allardyce

Honorable Mention -- Rozenhal -- Allardyce

Owen, because he is top class, a great sign of Newcastle's ambition to be a team worthy of such a quality player  and he will contribute a lot of goals once he gets service.

Martins, Roeder's best signing.  Simple as.

Faye, who I think will be a great addition to the back four, and could be immense there for Newcastle (who had a lot of problems in central defence for the last few seasons).  It was close with Rozenhal, who has been quite impressive to me, though.

Is this a retard thread? How has Owen been a good purchase? he cost 17m and has played about 17 games in 2 years.

Martins - just a good overall buy

Cacapa - apart from yesterday, he has been class, and with his experience and champions league know how, a very shrewd buy.

Solano - Wasn't as good as his first stint but brought back some good technical influence to Newcastle, was a delight to watch at times.

Rozy looks a brill buy oo though.

For me.

1. Martins - Roeder

2. Enrique - Allardyce

3. Barton - Allardyce

How do you know till they've played for us for a period of time?

Call it insight.

Load of shite.

Is he in your sig cause you think he's rubbish?

Best left back for us in ages by a country mile.

Nobby - Brought a bit of class to the team

Martins - A raw talent if he develops as we hope he will be awesome.

I am struggling now, I am reluctant to include Big Sam's signings as they haven't had enough time as of yet.

Menace got it spot on when he said Solano. Souness' only successful signing (as yet) and a damned important one in that season. Him and N'Zogbia were two of the most, in my opinion, prominent factors for our European qualification that year. Nobby was mint. Very important last year, too.

Nolberto Solano - Souness

Obafemi Martins - Roeder

Abdoulaye Faye - Allardyce

Given the players that Souness and Roeder brought in, the third choice had to be an Allardyce player, so i can't say that i fault Parky for using 'insight'. In the long-term, i think Faye will be massively important; i'm fairly sure he'll spearhead our central defense this season (ironic turn of phrase). I really rate the guy, i think he's going to be a real asset to us.

Rozehnal would follow him i think - very important that we've finally got good defensive cover. Time will tell for Enrique and Beye, too - i'm not convinced with Beye and i'm going to reserve solid judgement of Enrique at this moment in time.
