sempuki
Get beat by Watford and the pressure will really crank up. Got some tricky games coming up - needs to raise his game now.
Numbers
Lowest scorers in all four divisions. We got a regular ray of sunshine here boys, fuck off Dave we don't need to be embracing this kind of horror already.
Figures 1-0 Football
Bit harsh to hang SMC out to dry after 5 games. He inherited a team that had win 2 in about 20 games, had spent four years under Pardew with Gouf and Williamson. Spent six months with some form of special hospital escapee in charge with no tactical play, probably playing hop scotch during training and watching DVDs of Sunderland games from 1902 to get PASSHION. The difference in our team actually playing with tactics is evidenced, the players are playing poorly individually and as a team. SMC needs to install some confidence - that will only come with wins. The best way to judge a manager is when things are poor (like this). Saturday will be a turning point, sadly we have two tough games after this - 3-6 points out of the three games would be good and set us on our way for a very winnable run of 10 games. Mole_Toonfan
He better put that unhappiness to good use and start picking the right players then, i'm gonna give him a chance obviously but some of the team selections have been really poor. I agree he should get ten games before we make a judgement, but he's had chances to shine and he's failed them all five games straight. Lose to Watford and where can he go for the next four? Minhosa
SMc's Interview from Sky - Didn't do what we've done for the last four games. - Failed to compete, win our duals. - He doesn't know why it was. The journey? The ten minute warm up? - Wake up call that you have to be 100% - Credit to WHU. - We didn't match them. - Big reaction needed on Saturday. - Journey not the best preparation. - First four games, what we've been doing, we didn't do tonight and we need to get back to that. - Lack of cutting edge a big problem. - Final ball/final cross was not of quality of WHU, thats why we lost. - All about the training pitch now. - We need a reaction now for Saturday. - Not just from the players but also from the staff and the fans (?!?). - Shot ourselves in the foot with their second goal. - He confirmed that he did see their second goal. Wullie
He's making out we've been brilliant in those first four games and he's wrong. Most of our fans that I've seen have been raving about the first few games, including on here. My favourite part was when we didn't get thrashed by Swansea. Gallowgate Toon
I get why he's wanted the protection to the back 4 but he needs to see now that they just aren't good enough. His team selection today was fine apart from one position, but it's a key position and it's pretty important to how he wants the team to play. hakka
It's great that McClaren realises we are shit, but has he realised he's had a hand in this? The timing of the subs today suggests he thinks his choices are right, but they had an off night. He needs to realise he has setup us up wrong and given shit players too much game time. Most of our fans that I've seen have been raving about the first few games, including on here. My favourite part was when we didn't get thrashed by Swansea. I can't speak for the locals but I don't think anyone here has been raving, as such. Just recognised an incline in the level of performance and commitment, despite the results. I mentioned it in the other thread but tonight's the first time we've looked terrible - which is going to happen. We've got an average squad and (what's probably) an average manager. Terrymac1966
Of course it's Pardew that's why he was appointed when Ranieri and Laudrup were available For what it's worth we have launched 50 million into a bottomless abyss too ... very poor scouting by the chatty man Winaldum and Gouffran are 1 and the same except for the price

Pilko
To some extent he was given a free pass in those first four league games due to them being the opening day lottery, Arsenal, Swansea with a red card and Man Utd. Tonight was like watching your standard Pardew away performance. We were never in the game tonight at any point; and he needs to take responsibility.
