Guest
Ben Arfa & Benzema are quality. Go in with a £30m double bid in January.

Guest
You have to admit, Yakubu is a quality goalscorer. Always seems to end the season with 15-20 goals.

Guest
Just looked on Soccerbase, 91 goals from 197 starts (21 subs) since he first joined Portsmouth. That's a stunning record.
Cajun
Wanted him before we signed Luque, would have still been hounded out no doubt but at least we would have probably made a profit on him!
Guest
His record's even more impressive when you look at the clubs he's played for.

Guest
To be fair though, Yakubu has done it year in, year out for the last 4-5 seasons here and doesn't seem to miss half the chances that Martins does.
Guest kingdawson
You have to admit, Yakubu is a quality goalscorer. Always seems to end the season with 15-20 goals. Yep, and Everton fans and Moyes himself had the nerve to criticise him when players like Andy Johnson never do diddily squat for seven months. No doubt Yak will hit the 15-20 mark and no doubt Johnson wont.
Mowen
I read the other day that, over the past 4 prem seasons, only Thierry Henry has scored more premiership goals. He's very underrated imo.

I think johnson may be on his way out, i don't see him and Yakubu as a very good partnership and Moyes will be looking for a partner for whichever one ends the season on top. Anelka - Yakubu would arguably be the best outside the top 4.

In short, the reasons I didn't want us to sign him in the first place. Since then he has started putting in a half decent shift every week and his hold up play has improved. No coincidence that he's scoring regularly now that he's putting more effort in imo. Moyes has improved his game. And why should Johnson have got stick? He was working his socks off and trying his best so why criticise him for not being a quality finisher? That's just pointless. He can't magic up some extra ability. A striker that goes 7 months without scoring a goal deserves stick no matter ho 'hard he's trying' or 'how much he works his socks off for the team'. He's job is to score goals and if he's not doing his job (especially for that long period of time) then he deserves criticism. Effort and comitment only gets you so far.
