4-3-3

GK: Given

RB: Beye

CB: Cacapa

CB: Taylor

LB: Enrique

CM: Barton

CM: Butt

CM: Emre

LF: N' Zogbia

CF: Smith

RF: Milner

Subs: Harper, Roz, Viduka, Martins, Duff

Milner and N'Zogbia can be intelligent enough to make the most of Smith's target man work, and the prospect of the Zog further up the pitch is really mouth watering.  Sam should pick a defense here and try and stick with it through the Christmas period.

why do you hate Duff so much? everyone has their favourites but it seems you're praying for the guy to fail to feel vindicated about your initial displeasure of his signing

I don't need to pray mate, I think he'll offer us no more than last season, probably less, which consisted of nowt apart from the odd dive. He's getting picked because of his name and what he did five years ago, ahead of better players. Same as last season and we suffered for it. We'll see I suppose.

Dont get that. Some of the utter shite we have been served up and youre having a pop at a player who performed very well for the REpublic when he was a Newcastle player. Still probably the most threatening a winger has been in Newcastle colours this season on todays perfromance. Mind you that might well have just vindicated you.

Duff is quality, he was unfit last season and with Big Sam in charge ive no doubt he will be fully fit this season. Also its obvious Sam is never playing Zog at LM, yesterday when Duff came on Milner went to the right and Duff went onto the left, if we see 2 proper wingers on their preferred side of the park then we will already have something we havent had all season which is attacking threats down BOTH wings, if Sam isnt going to play N'Zogbia on the left of midfield then Duff must start, its as simple as that.

A return to the formula that was actually giving us success, would be nice.

It would be nice to see the 4-3-3 with players who are actually suited to the wide roles, rather than one who cannot pass and another who currently appears incapable of taking the ball past a defender.
