Delima
I do not want him. His teams are boring and defensive. He falls out with players. His buying record is less than desirable Team managed by him could easily be demotivated. If you do not want Houllier here please make your voice heard. Dokko
I do not want him. So? Most people do. His teams are boring and defensive. Thommo's team was boring and defensive He falls out with players. Every manager falls out with players, its not epic by any standard His buying record is less than desirable He's made good and bad buys like every manager, its what you do with them that counts Team managed by him could easily be demotivated. So demotivated that they could go out and win trophies If you do not want Houllier here please make your voice heard. All your point are a bit shit really. Good luck with the thread. Guest Mcdonald36
I'd take him right now. Where do I sign? His pool sides played some decent stuff before he went a bit mental, and, more importantly, he turned them into a more professional run outfit, brought some pride back to the club and got them winning trophies again. Before he became ill and thommo took over, after that he couldn't open them back up, everytime he did it resulted in failure.

Guest Mcdonald36
Aye, started trying to be too clever and it resulted in dull football, and then the players start losing respect. Slippery slope. Will he get that kind of time here, though? Pool fans can be a patient bunch for a new manager.
toontownman
Not my first choice but a different league to the likes of hughes rednapp and mclaren Etc. safest choice if the above is all we can get.

Seems the best candidate linked with the job, excluding the fantasistes dreaming about Mourinho etc. Look at his record with Liverpool 5 trophies won, enough said. Ashley17
Houllier and Shearer could be like a good version of what Roeder and Shearer achieved. Thompson was good for Houllier because he knew what the club was about, Shearer could do a similar job here. I feel dirty for mentioning Shearer, Thompson and smiliar in the same paragraph but you get my gist. Obviously someone who isn't Shearer could work as well.. Houlliers team at Lyon played dynamic attacking football, packed with players full of pace....he brought Benzema into the 1st team as well helping take them to another level after Le Guen left.....and look what he has done at Rangers and PSG (????).... I get the impression whoever we are linked with you will pick all the negative points out of that person.....
oldtype
Were Lyon "boring and defensive" under him? To be fair, Lyon couldn't play boring football in the French league if they tried. They're a elite European club who gets to play in a league composed of mostly Championship-level or worse opposition.
Shearergol
One thing is for sure. If we do get Houllier, we must all stick together and hound him out as soon as possible.

Taylor Swift
I wanted him back when we appointed Souness. I wonder where we'd be now if that'd happened. He's been my first choice since the SBR days. Wanted him before we got Roeder, wanted him before we got Allardyce and now he's still my first choice. People underestimate how experienced and intelligent Houllier is. I think he'd be perfect here. Ask any knowledgable Liverpool fan now and they'll say they appreciate what he did for the club - and as a rule of thumb, that's always a good way to judge a manager.
