Incognito
Now we've got Gutierrez, why not go back to Mallorca for Guiza.Looked very sharp at Euros, and would help each other settle in,plus know each others game inside out.
Syrette
We need creative midfielders more than we do strikers and I'm not sure we'd get Guiza on the cheap.

They are mostly ex-pros so know the game better than we do. Many start out freelance, so they have to prove themselves with helpful player reports. Guest Heneage
I assume you could shadow an older scout to know what to look for. SBR's best attribute was his scout ability.

Mags Serbia
Newcastle to Sign Best Foreign Star in Italy Last Season: Spurs, Aston Villa, Sunderland, Middlesbrough & Everton to Miss Out! Press reports suggest that Newcastle executive director of football Dennis Wise has headed to Switzerland for talks with young Swiss sensation Gokhan Inler’s agent Dino Lamberti in view to a summer transfer. The Udinese midfielder will reportedly cost around £4m which seems relatively cheap considering his growing reputation in Serie A after just one season playing there. He may not be a household name in England but he’s built an growing reputation in Europe over the past few seasons and impressed individually in Switzerland’s doomed Euro 2008 performances. Inler currently plies his trade for Serie A side Udinese whom he joined last season. The 23-year-old enjoyed an impressive first campaign in Italy after moving from FC Zurich. Due to injuries to established midfield stars Giampiero Pinzi and Chris Obodo, the youngster soon became a first team regular and was voted the best foreign player in the Italian top division for the past half of the campaign last season. He played in 37 of the clubs 38 League games and scored twice (all starts) as Udinese finished an impressive 7th. Inler’s a highly energetic player with an excellent work ethic and is sound in possession. Inler can put himself about but is not an overly physical player as 6 bookings in 37 games last season suggests. He certainly isn’t a patch of Joey Barton anyway! The Swiss youngster is an excellent reader of the game so snuffs out attacking threats through his awareness rather than brute force although he’s no shrinking violet when it comes to a challenge. Inler won back to back Swiss League titles with FC Zurich and has been an integral member of the national side since making his debut in September 2006. He played in all 3 of his countries Euro 2008 games and now has 20 appearances at this level (1 goal). At 23, Inler has already plenty of experience and after impressing both in Serie A and at international level he would be a useful acquisition for many Premier League clubs though it’s Newcastle who look set to win the race for his signature. So were you impressed by his Inler’s performances at Euro 2008? Would Newcastle fans like your club to sign the Swiss international or are you rather ‘neutral’ about it all? from: footballpools.com http://www.footballpools.com/pundits-corner/2008/07/03/newcastle-to-sign-best-foreign-star-in-italy-last-season-spurs-aston-villa-sunderland-middlesbrough-everton-to-miss-out/

KaKa
If we are interested it won't be too difficult to get him from Udinese which is the good news. Like the article says, Inler got a chance due to injuries to their two top midfielders who should be returning next season and who are both good players. Udinese can therefore afford to sell Inler for some extra cash. Hope this is true as I liked the look of him in the Euros and he seems to tick all the boxes for the type of players we are now targetting.
Guest optimistic nit
To be honest, Given has probably gone as far as he can go. If we think we can get someone better without breaking the bank, I'm all for it. david james? given has had a bad season and a bit, we are now all going to write off his entire career, when hes not even reached the age a keeper usually reaches his prime? maybe hes finished, i doubt it. Pointless bringing in someone who's even older than Given imo. If we're not planning on keeping Given then we need to look long-term. I'd have either him or Harper in goal rather than a stopgap. EDIT: ^^^ This has to be the finest example of missing the point, ever.
