They're absolutely right, given the price he'd have cost even at 31.

£10 millions was quoted earlier on when he was 30. We've done a lot worse business than that.

Henry said he wasn't a cheat and attempted to qualify that statement by saying he told the referee that he had handled the ball.

But he only told the ref after the game had ended, when he knew only too well that the ref could do nothing about it and that the result could not be changed.

Henry is quite simply a cheat and he and all other football cheats should be punished by FIFA.

It's about time FIFA and/or home FA's had the power to deduct points as punishment for cheating rather than fining players who can shrug off massive fines with impunity.

can you tell me the name of 1 player who hasn't deliberatly cheated in a game regardless of wether it's a handball, shirt tug, obstruction whatever.

this has been blown out of all proprtion because of what was at stake.  had it happened in the group stages at 3-0 to france and the resulting cross had went out for a throw and wouldn't have even got a mention.

Cleaners in Ireland have decided their Henry vacuum cleaners really suck - after Thierry Henry's handball ended the nation's World Cup dream. Angry workers can't bear to look at the smiley-faced machines. Some have painted out the word "Henry" while others have daubed over its cheerful face.

A worker at an Irish government building in Dublin said last night: "Several cleaners say they're unhappy working with vacuum cleaners with the cheat's name written on them.

"It's bizarre because the machines have nothing whatsoever to do with Thierry Henry.

Someone's simply made that up.

Henry has really sizzled himself on this issue, whether you sympathise with the paddies, or not.

However, doesn't stop him being one of the best 10 players of the Premierships 18 years or so's history.

As far as I care, if people want Henry banned from the world cup, anyone else who cheats in a match in the next few months before the WC should be banned as well. And if it was Robbie Keane who had done it he wouldn't of had the skills to keep the ball in like Terry did.

no it shouldn't. it's a ridiculous situation to get into if the seriousness of something can only be decidied on the outcome and not the intent. and as it is ,the same intent is involved in every act of cheating that every pro footballer does from pulling shirts, obstruction and pushing.
