I never did understand that story. Why did Wenger recommend a player to Birmingham?

Think Birmingham wanted one of the Gooner boys on loan. Wenger didnt want to loan the player out and instead recommended Palacios, who was having a trial at Arse, to Bruce.

Arsene is good mates with Brucey.

Pointed him in Palacios's direction after he deemed him not good enough for Arsenal.

I think it was more a case of him no being ble to get in the squad, not that he wasnt good enough, but yeh, Arsene and Bruce are good mates.

If you owned a large percentage of Arsenal, would you be happy with Wenger telling someone to sign a player who turns out to be worth £14million?

It's as bad as spending £14 million on a player that turns out to be worth £1 million.

Jose Mourinho has seemingly opened the door to a future swoop for Gareth Bale, putting the Spurs defender on a par with Ashley Cole.

Mourinho was a huge fan of Cole during his time at Chelsea, and he still considers the England international to be the best left back in the country.

Having sold Wayne Bridge to Manchester City there seems little chance Chelsea would ever allow Cole to move to Inter, but Mourinho may have other plans.

The Portuguese is a long-term admirer of Bale, despite the fact the Spurs man is yet to win a Premier League game with Tottenham.

“Ashley Cole is currently the best left-back in English football, but Bale shows identical instincts going forward and has a lethal left foot,” Mourinho told Western Mail.

“He is similar to Cole. Like him, Bale can act as left winger too and is capable of providing a lot of crosses for strikers.

“He is very valuable to any team. I watched Bale play many times, way before he joined Spurs, and was so impressed with his offensive nature.

“He just needs to remain injury-free, because he missed so much of what could have been a really good year last season.”

Spunking 12m plus just to get a player 5 months early is madness.

I know football long ago lost any attachment to reality, but it is a bit galling to read about this kind of thing when every time we turn the telly on it is x hundred jobs lost, and credit crunch all over the shop.

Palacios to Man Utd in tomorrow's rags.

Not a sniff of an Everton transfer. Depressing stuff.

Kenwright is like those toffs you see who inherit stately homes worth a fortune but haven't got a pot to piss in and can't maintain the place yet also refuse to cash in and let someone else do the job. c***.

Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has stated that the Serie A giants would not be tempted to sell Alessandro Del Piero for £100million.

Cobolli Gigli's comments follow Manchester City's interest in AC Milan star Kaka, with reports suggesting a deal in excess of £100million could be in the offing.

Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has also been linked with City in the past, but Cobolli Gigli is adamant Juve will not lose any of their star personnel.

"We have never received any offer for Buffon," said Cobolli Gigli. "As for Del Piero, he is the star and central column of Juve and would not be remotely interested in leaving Turin.

"No, we would not sell him, not even for £100m. These figures, especially at this moment when the world and football should be reconsidering its finances, are just illogical."

Fuking nutter. Massive Del Boy fan, but if Juve got a £10m bid they'd be mad to turn it down.  :idiot2:

Apparantly City have outbid us for Palacios. Think they're just signing players for the hell of it now.

Gutted. They don't need him. Still you might as well go in for ireland now.

The better player out of the two iyam. At the very least he's shown more over a long amount of time.
