Other clubs' transfers

My bro (who lives in Cesc's town and knows his family and others in Cesc's circle), tells me he's been told the deal is done, but will be kept under wraps a few days so both clubs can do some pantomime.

Yeah yeah, ITK and all that. But I will say it in case he's right and I get internet brownie points.

Interesting. If true I wonder what the fee is.

Villarreal have agreed a fee of €8m with Atlético for Godín. They still have to reach an agreement with his agent who holds 30% of the player's rights, however.

Him and Filipe Luís are/would be great signings, considering how much of a joke their backline has been.

"As" claiming Khedira's signing for Madrid is done too (but Marca said the same like two weeks ago).

On other news, Cronaldo has quickly grabbed Raúl's #7, so they'll call him CR7 again.

Yeah, just read that Khedira going to Real seems like a done deal.

Didn't Real say they would never give the Nr. 7 to anyone after Raúl would leave?

Cronaldo isn't anyone though. It's not like they would formally retire it anyway, and other big Madrid legends have worn it in the past (Amancio, Juanito, Butragueño...), so it's more a case of finding somebody big enough to fill in.

Khedira is sadly a very good signing for that lot. I hope they at least pay him that rumored €7m wage.

Mark Hughes is not a bad manager, what exactly do you have against him?

Mark Hughes is uninspiring. Just another get stuck in and bully them nitwit manager. That Fulham team isn't built like that at all either. Watch him try to bring in a few brutes with any money he has. Sven would have been far better placed to continue building on the type of football Hodgson had implemented. Hughes will take them back to the dark ages.

I don't think he'll pull up any trees at Fulham but I don't think he's quite as one dimensional as you make out.

When he went to Blackburn they were on the verge of relegation so he instilled a bullying, physical system that got them out of trouble. After that he started working on the pretty stuff and they actually played some decent football. It was a pragmatic and intelligent approach that worked very well.

Does anyone else think Barca have been a little undignified and unprofessional throughout this Fabregas saga? Sky Sports have had stories about Messi, Villa, Puyol, Xavi and Iniesta publically stating how Fabregas should join and how he will join.

Just a little snide from my point of view. Reminds me of something Madrid would do really.

It's not like he didn't have a choice.

Anyway, it's fairly commonplace as it's one of the few advantages the British market has over European markets.

Macheda is probably the most recent high-profile example of this, non?

Happens pretty often. There's a difference of one year where British clubs are allowed to offer professional contracts and Spanish ones can't.

I have to say that I think that Cesc is a bit of a c***. When he left us Arsenal were a bigger fish than Barça, and now that things are reversed and we are the ones racking in the trophies he wants back.

The whole Cesc saga is getting very tiresome now. And in all fairness, it seems as usual the media drumming up the shite. It's boring the hell out of me when I read about it now. The Sun were so desperate to stick something about Cesc and Barca in the other day they put a tiny article about how their recent figures showing their debt has dealt them a major blow to landing Cesc  like that's the first thing they thought about when they worked out their accounts!

Wouldn't be surprised at all if they were sent to the World Cup by Guardiola to badger him into a move. You see it happen all the time, Gerrard and Carragher persuaded Joe Cole though he was a free agent.

I've read quite a few blog posts/articles of how shitty their transfer etiquette has been. It's become a pretty big joke at this point.

Yeh, but you still tapped him up publicly which isn't the right thing to do.

Arsene knows when to let a player go, unfortunately this is a rare situation where it seems the player wants to go before Arsene is ready.

Really though, you got like 28mil for a player that maybe had two great years left in him? Pretty good deal from Arsenal's side.
