Marcotti speculating this Aguero thing could be striking musical chairs with Torres going back to Atletico and Forlan to Liverpool.

Liverpool would get such a raw deal there.

Suarez & Forlan for the price of Torres?

If I were Liverpool I'd snap their hands off for that deal.

Forlan will be 32 at the start of next season and would still command a large fee and Suarez is completely unproven in England although I had forgotten they had him before I said that.

Torres is just going through a rough spell and should be hitting his peak the next couple of years.

Aye true.

Was just thinking earlier what are the biggest transfers and for some examples of mega-money being spent by Serie A or La Liga clubs on lower league players? We've had Bale, Walcott, potentially Chamberlain go for big money from lower leagues to the Premier League, can't really think of many from Italy or Spain that are their equivalents?

Spurs are meant to have bid on: Rossi, Negredo, Aguero & Llornte in the  last 24hrs.

Basically Spurs have one chance of retaining their CL spot because they'll never oust Manu, Chelsea & Arsenal and have to fight it with Citeh, who'll put away each year and every year after. Then there is Liverpool who'll turn it around eventually. IF Spurs don't make the CL for next season they'll not see it again for a decade, 'arry knows this and is doing anything he can to bring in a worldclass striker to help fire him in to the 4th CL spot, but it looks like he's ran out of time.

There has been lower-league players move to big clubs in Italy but often the lower league teams get a really raw deal. Most of them don't have the position of power both financially and in terms of reputation that a team like Southampton has.

For example Inter got Balotelli from Lumezzane at a similar stage of his career to Walcott burst onto the scene and the fee was negligible.

Atlético bought Caminero from Valladolid when they were in Segunda, dunno what they paid but it's the biggest profile player I can think moving from a Second to a First division club in Spain.

Have in mind that a player not in the top flight will have a bag of crisps as release clause, so big money moves are very unlikely.

On that note, what players have been signed from the Segunda Division and been a big success in La Liga?

Thats a shame as foreign crisps are rubbish.

Are release clauses a big thing in spain VI? seems like a lot of La Liga players have them in their contracts.

been meaning to ask vi the whole buyout clause thing, its an obligatory in spain for it to be there right?

According to our labor law, a worker can always cancel his contract and move to another employer. A release clause is - in fact - a penalty the footballer agrees to pay in case he tears up his contract. They aren't mandatory, but if they weren't included in footballer contracts they would be able to move freely.
