That big nosed twat ian rush gets my vote. He makes Smithy look good. Also Hamilton was woeful. Not a player but hate Daglish for fucking KKs team

At least Rush scored a goal for us

Yeah. One goal.

Two. One League cup and one FA Cup.

The same season your hero scored 2 League goals

Arsprilla. One of the biggest wastes of space ever.

Must admit I never saw that one coming like Leazes mate.

What about some of the utter dross we had play for us in the 80's man? Me Dad and Granda (God rest his soul) said we had some absolute shite back then man, although me Dad watched the club through thick and thin back then, went to every home game and many an away game, but he's another one now who is fed up with the way the game has gone and has just jacked it in all together, he said despite us losing Gazza and the likes which was heartbreaking as a fan, back then you still had that affiliation with the players, whereas now the game has sold its soul completely.

I would be happy to comment tooj, but talking about the clubs history [even in order to draw perspective comparison] doesn't go down well, mainly because it works against the general "opinion".

So I'll abstain.

that's interesting.. I never hated Barnes while he was here.. of course, he was already too fat and never showed any consistency.. but he still had decent technique and occasionally showed some nice touches.. or maybe it's all in my head :/

yeah I agree. He was past his best, but did better than Arsprilla.

You go on about how long you've been watching the club for, and then you come out with something like that.

Ridiculous.

1 brilliant game. The vast majority of the rest, a passenger. Was no help at all to a young 19 year old lad who played alongside him, carried on doing his own thing. Poor professional. This sort of thing is important in my eyes, but I realise some people have poor judgement.

I've just said that I won't go back to pre-1992 on this one, I'll stick to what the general stance is  ie football began in 1992. Arsprilla was a twat, I hated him for his lack of effort, application, and for the reasons above.

He was a shite buy. The only redeeming thing was that somebody was stupid enough to almost give us our money back. Wonder who the chairman was  bluelaugh.gif

There's been some shite posted on here in the last 3 or 4 weeks, but that sentence there beats all of it.

no, its true.

He did better in that season than Arsprilla, apart from 1 game. Unless you are one of these knackers who sit around in clubs and think that 1 game makes somebody a great player.

Are you saying he was useless in all games aside from Barca 3-2?

most of them. I saw them, thats how I see him, he was a shite buy, its my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

My opinion. He was a knacker and a waste of space. 2 League goals from someone supposed to be leading the attack and taking responsibilty should tell you something. Tomasson would have done miles better if he had played alongside Shearer, Ferdinand or Ferguson.

BTW, Barnes played up front for some games that season, he showed miles more committment to the team than Arsprilla. He also scored 6 league goals against Arsprilla's 2

so you were wrong about him only scoring 1 goal Ozzie lad ?

Do you admit it, a simple yes or no will suffice  mackems.gif

season 96-97, 4 goals in 17 games plus 7 as a sub.

97-98 2 league goals, and 4 CL goals, don't know appearances, did he play more in europe than the league  bluelaugh.gif what does that tell you.

6 goals in 2 seasons in the league. Barnes equalled that in 1 season. Stop defending him just because he "entertained" you or whatever. He was shite, he didn't deliver, he was a waste of money. When people talk about NUFC being laughed at, its this sort of mentality that they laugh at. The successful clubs wouldn't entertain such players with such a shite return, but NUFC fans love it. What a load of shite.

Even taking away stats, he did nothing for the team ethic either.

Yes, I forgot his historic strike against Hull City. That one certainly put Asprilla put to shame.

So what is it about Asprilla? Did he shag your wife or something?

What a sad man you are to come out with juvenile comments like that  mackems.gif

So you were wrong then, he scored 2 goals ? And what about your hero also only scoring 2 goals ?

Asprilla app 50; goals 18 (one in 2.77)

Rush app 9; goals 2 (one in 4.5)

Barnes app 33; goals 7 (one in 4.7)

I know who I'd rather have, even before you start considering the entertainment value.

Or the fact that Rush is a twat and Barnes is a cunt, whereas Tino is merely a knacker, and is neither fat nor wears a stupid moustache.
