NE5
Its a shame that there is no substance in this takeover talk, because i'd like to see a billionaire in charge who likes to spend his money. I think overall Ashley has done wonders for the club, bit of sensibility has gone a long way, but he cannot take us forward like we hoped, if he does it will be a long drawn out process and by that time another 2-3 clubs could be a proper billionaires boys toy overtaking us and knocking us even further down the league. Ashley in the end has no loyalty to us, so if a good offer comes in he'd take it, just as if a good offer for our future spending comes in i'd want to take that as well. I don't agree with the comment that he's done wonders TT, but the rest of the post is spot on. Its just a shame that people are so stuck in making swipes at his predecessors they can't see reality. If Ashley sells the club for anything upwards of 260m quid, he's had everything back in spades and more, including his act of charity in paying off the stadium expansion. Mick
I'm not sure what Ashley does for fun. If he called watching this team last season fun, and the friendlies so far fun, then he his definition of fun is a long way from mine. it would appear that some people would prefer Mike Ashley to continue to be the owner of Newcastle, and comparatively underfunding his manager, instead of the 6th richest man in the world. No wonder people laugh at geordies, how embarrassing. What do you make of this then? http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcastleunited/tm_headline= freddie-shepherd-admits-nufc-was-almost-bankrupt %26method=full%26objectid=21461089%26siteid=72703-name_page.html No doubt you'll come up with something interesting. madras
However, experts on sub-continent affairs have greeted the announcement with a pinch of salt and refused to rule out a bid from Ambani, who is worth some £21 billion. This doesnt mean that Ambani isnt interested in investing from his personal wealth outside his company, said Rob Shepherd. They really don't see it, do they. I always wondered what Rob Shepherd specialised in. well, if you changed the name from "rob" to "bob" you's get the intials "B-S" from the same name. It hasn't been the dawn i was looking for, but at this difficult time, its not been so bad. The club is attracting potential investors, under previous most backed off due to huge debts hanging around the clubs neck, and even after a careful due dilligence more debt was found tucked away. The restructure of the club, in terms of board level and youth development is encouraging, the appointment of a manager who gives a shit, just what we need right now, but the lack of funding is a worry, and his now admittance that he financially alone can restore us to the point he wants (something which he apparently bollocked KK for) for me means if both parties can find a suitable exit strategy, both parties would be happy to take it. He'll make his money on the club, no doubt, and he leaves us in a better position, but if he hasn't got the balls to fully commit then i'd say thanks for finanical breather (stadium loan) and good luck elsewhere. Also, the ridiculous irony in you automatically assuming a new board would be better for the club. of course, but thats because I'm far from impressed by Ashley. I've got a bit more experience than you in judging unambitous boards, and seeing through fancy PR bollocks, you see. Not everybody who supported the club pre-1992 - or says they did - is thick like some people. Of course, if they agree with you, then thats alright isn't it. At the end of the day, its about backing the manager and beating the opposition at the time, and Ashley will never tap Keegans potential like the Halls and Shepherd did. Who all said they had "always supported the club" of which I'm pretty sure there are a few posting on here, and at least one in this very thread.
