Guest neesy111
Good decision. His attitude absolutely stinks off the field and he obviously thinks he's already good enough as he refuses extra training and is always the 1st player off after training. Yorkie
I think this could be a brilliant move, tbh. I think he's got talent that could be useful in this division, and if (as we suspect), his poor attitude is what's holding him back - this could be the catalyst to sort him out. Considering his raw ability and physical attributes, you've got to wonder why he hasn't made more of an impact now. If it's cos he sees himself as a professional playboy, rather than a professional footballer, the threat of it being taken away from him could really see him buck his ideas up. He'll never get a contract again like what he's currently got, unless he improves.
James
What would binning him say to the other kids? Act the cunt and you go. A warning to all of them. My thoughts. We want to develop good players, but we want to maximise their potential by encouraging high levels of professionalism. Turning a blind eye when he is never going to be amazing spreads a bad message. Wil
Always been wanting the lad to do well. Was at Coventry when he scored his first goal. Had the world at his feet then, really. There's been enough released through the media about his attitude, for him to know he needed to get his finger out. If they really are intending to let him go, I'd say there must be doubts about his technical ability at the highest level as well.
Pilko
Why do I get the feeling that a 5 year contract for Ranger would breed complacency?
Guest toonlass
What would binning him say to the other kids? From what I've been told he has been a right cunt to the other kids. Acting like a premier league superstar around them, like he is so much better than them. I'm sure quite a few would be happy to see the back of him. Thespence
His lack of goals is the real issue ffs!!! Forget the attitude stuff & being late as the reasons if he was scoring goals blind eyes would be at work.

Frazzle
Unless I've worked it out wrong (which I probably have), at the same age Carroll had 3 senior goals with us. Ranger's number of senior goals? If Carroll had been given ten minutes here and there in the Championship season he would've struggled to put a run together as well. I don't see why Ranger can't go out on loan and have the other bloody club play his wages. I'm not saying Ranger will go on to be the next Carroll but I'd probably rather not let another team find out.
Guest BlacknWhiteArmy
At the moment, he's an athlete with next to no footballing ability. Is it worth persevering?
David Icke - Son of God
He's not crap, but he's a wanker and this wankerishness is really going to hamper his chances of fulfilling his potential.

This is my point though, there's plenty of posts just like this in the Carroll thread in 2009. As I said, I don't know if he'll turn out to be the next Carroll but I'd rather we at least waited until after a loan somewhere.

I just can't see it happening in regards to Ranger.
dcmk
I would rather we play Ranger than Amoebi, Lovenkrands any day of the week. He has the makings to be a a good player, sending him out on loan won't hurt anyone.

You keep saying he is not the next Carroll so stop linking him to Carroll. Think of Ranger more on a par with Paul Robinson. It was quite clear that manager had faith in AC whether it was Shearer picking him for the Stoke game above Oba or CH making him the main striker when we went down, managers are just not backing Ranger because they are quite clearly not convinced. Skirge
I think its how he is as a person that has brought this about, he has talent but just refuses to grow up, the lad is so thick he just can't see it. Its a shame but no great loss really. BUT Its the Sunday Sun so could all be bollocks

I'm saying he's not the next Carroll but comparing him to him. That's how comparisons generally work...I can't explain it any more simply. Hughton picked Carroll in Championship because we had no-one else. If we hadn't been relegated then Carroll wouldn't have been given the chance he got. Edit - fwiw as well, didn't Shearer want Ranger tied down on a long term contract? So he must have rated him as he did with Carroll.
