Why are people creaming themselves over a team with players they'd never heard of before this morning?

Sell Owen and play Xisco! Drop N'Zogbia and play Gonzales! f*** that.

If we're going with 433 then there's no place for Zog for me, he just hasn't performed well enough in the middle and is far too lightweight to play there. I would've had Barton in there ahead of Gonzales but he's going to be out for quite a while I assume? And there's no way I'm putting Butt or Duff in there.

If we play the 433 we did last year then Zoggy could fill in Martin's role, mostly staying out left and providing the pace threat in behind.

That may be, but to put in an unknown ahead of them? Personally I'll hang fire until they've had a run out first.

    Martins            Xisco

                 Owen

    Gutherie? Butt? Jonas

Enrique  Colo  Taylor  Beye

                Given

Subs: Harper, Bassong, Edgar, Geremi, Duff, Barton (i'd start him instead of Butt if he wasn't in jail/suspended), Carroll, Gonzales (hopefully he's good and can come in for Guthrie or Butt).

If that's the case, I'd probably be starting him.

some differing opinions

I hope you're right and I hope Xisco settles in quickly. Xisco also suffers from the occassional muscular problems but if KK wants a target man alongside the likes of Owen/Martins, he could fill that role well and chip in with a few goals too.

I think his team play has been his most improved attribute in the last year. His holding up of the ball with his back to goal, thus allowing the midfield to join the attacks was a feature of last year that really improved noticeably. He's also a brave striker, not scared to roll his sleeves up and get stuck in, which will no doubt go down well with the Geordie faithfull. He's not exactly lightning quick but for a target man, he has a turn of speed.

I was really looking forward to seeing Xisco this season because he was getting better and better. His hold and link up play was improving and he was always a big physical presence who I thought would knock in about 15+ goals this season if given a regular game.

Hopes were that Xisco was becoming another Guiza, but that still had to be proven. There always was a chance that Xisco would suffed new injuries in the season or would face competition of Omar Bravo and Mista. To be honest, I didn't see Xisco scoring 15 goals simply because he wasn't going to play 38 x 90 mins.

this is supposed to be a good read too - http://www.deportivo-la-coruna.com/page.php?cid=178

and someone else said he's been learning english recently so maybe we've had this move set up for a while.

Differing from what? They all agree that he has improved a lot, and will get better, and score goals, given a good run in the first team...

the last one basically says he probably wouldnt score 15 goals this season, that his potential has yet to be proven, and that he is injury prone.
