The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]

Recommended Posts

I read on the SMB yesterday that it had been reported on ssn that Lennon could go to Boro as part of the Downing deal, could be Lennon for N'Zogbia?

Most likely to be Smith for Mido or N'Zogbia for Sakho.

not linked with us but what about Gelson Fernandes? Good player IMO, probably available in the current City climate, cheaper than Mbia.

Better than Guthrie?

Lennon would offer so much more than N'Zogbia.  Harry not retarded enough to let that happen surely.

Maybe Bentley then? If Spurs get a left winger then Redknapp's going to struggle to keep both him and Lennon happy.

Could swap both players in loan deals and sort out any extra we would have to pay in the Summer.

Such as what? He gets around the same amount of goals and assists, plus he is no more talented. The only thing Lennon has over N'Zogbia is his nationality, which makes him higher profile and about £5m more valuable.

And he plays on the right which would give us more balance.

We would be better off selling N'Zogbia and buying Pennant with some of the change. Now I don't rate Pennant, but he's about the same quality as Lennon.

He's better than what we've got.

You are banging on about crossing, but for fuk sake, you seen the crosses we produce ATM? Shocking and useless is an understatement. Pennant would be no worse, in fact i think he's a lot better than Duff & Zoggy at crossing, and if Zoggy is off, Jonas on his natural left and Pennant on the right is great balance for me.

Well I can only go off what Ive seen and what my Liverpool fan friends have said ('he cant cross for toffee'), no use replacing the shit crossers we have at the moment with new shit crossers. In fact, if we were to get rid of Geremi and get Pennant I think we'd be making the team weaker. If Geremi goes then Coloccini and Enrique are probably our best crossing outlets. That tells its own story.

Espanyol have claimed that Steve Finnan is in ‘perfect condition’ despite suggestions that problems with his medical are complicating a potential move to Hull City.

The Tigers have agreed a fee for the Irish defender but it has been reported that the club are awaiting further scans from Finnan’s medical before pressing ahead with a deal.

The former Liverpool and Fulham star suffered a thigh injury in November which has severely restricted his playing time in Spain but his Barcelona-based employers are convinced that Finnan’s fitness is fine.

“Formally we do not know this story about an injury in the leg but for us the player is good physically,” Espanyol’s chief of medical staff Ignacio Sitges told the Spanish press.

“If that is not true then logically Finnan would not travel to England for a medical.

“The footballer is in a perfect condition to play. We are surprised by this.”

Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear knows he has to sell in order to strengthen and is prepared to let Jose Enrique leave.

Atletico Madrid have offered striker Luis Garcia in a straight swap for the Spanish defender.

NOTW.

What, so the money we've been told is available has once again vanished?

Kinnear reckons someone is going out on a swap deal as long as someone else doesn't poach the player we want first.

Hopefully N'Zogbia is the one on the way out. Would make sense really.

Question is why the hell would we get rid of our only actual left back.

Because he's bring Babayaro and Robbie Elliot back. If we're lucky...

Optimistic, more like Bernard tbh...

Scarier still, but given his Crazy Gang connections, perhaps Ben Thatcher's even more likely.
