Paris in the springtime for Toon starlet?

Nov 23 2008 by Neil Farrington, Sunday Sun

CHARLES N’ZOGBIA has revealed he is set to demand a move to Paris St Germain — as German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund enter the race for him.

N’Zogbia admitted his agent has held talks with PSG and that he plans to ask Newcastle to let him make a “dream” switch to the French capital in January.

The 22-year-old has started just seven league games this season, having spent seven weeks on the bench including yesterday’s trip to Chelsea.

And although interim Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear has been keen to talk up his prospects at St James’s Park, N’Zogbia insists he wants a new start — and regular football — across the Channel.

“My agent is in regular contact with Paris,” he said. “It could be as good a deal for me as it is for them.

“I am still under contract with Newcastle, but this would be a good progression for my career.

“Newcastle know that I am looking for more playing time. If a transfer can be done, all the better.

“I am 22-years-old. I want to play. I must soon meet the leaders of Newcastle to take stock.

“Paris’s interest flatters me. As a boy, I dreamed of playing for them. I always have.”

However, the prospect of bigger wages and Champions League football at Bayern would also be tempting.

The Sunday Sun understands both Bayern and Dortmund have sounded out third parties about N’Zogbia’s interest in a move to Germany.

But whoever covets him most, it may take more than a mooted figure of £5 million to persuade Newcastle to do business for a player still rated as a prodigious, if enigmatic, talent.

Meanwhile, Kinnear has confirmed to the Sunday Sun that the two players he hopes to sign on loan if still at United in January are a left-back and a centre-half.

Although Roma’s Liverpool old boy John Arne Riise and Germany international Marcel Schafer have been mooted as the left-back in question, that would seemingly rule out Arsenal midfielder Denilson, but not Blackburn centre-back Chris Samba.

Elsewhere, former Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd is playing hard-ball in discussions over a takeover deal for Real Mallorca.

Shepherd is thought to be demanding that a meeting this week with president Vicente Grande — in which he would re-evaluate the La Liga club’s books — takes place in London.

Dont blame him to be honest. If you were a professional footballer and you saw Duff playing in your position week in week out, you'd want to move too!

Oh and id forget about meeting the clubs leaders Zog, as we dont have any!

He can f*** off.

Jesus thats a bit harsh. All he said was Im a young lad and I wanna play some more football and obviously being French Psg would be a dream move for him.Look at his point of view.A sub for a bottom half table club or playing for a team from his homeland who are challenge for honours, plus the fact the club is in the shitter and the moment.I would wanna move tbh if Duff was getting picked ahead of  me every week I would wanna move as well.

Very disapointing if he leaves though

I did wonder who the "fringe" players JFK was saying he wanted to sell to raise some money.

I think he'll be gone, just hope we can get some decent cash in for him. Sell him for £5m, get Riise for £2m wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

I would rather sell N'Zogbia for £3m and not purchase Riise.

Why the fuck he's STILL on the bench is beyond me. He's nowhere near the finished article, but almost all promise has now been lost.

Depressing to think he'll probably leave and come on leaps and bounds for someone else.

it cant be a coincidence dave, this is his 6th manager here, and none of them have really played him regularly.

i do agree that the duff purchase hindered him, but 3 managers since roeder havnt put him in ahead of duff, got to be a reason for it.

Surely can't be his fault, must be every manager who he has ever worked under who has the problem.

Except for SBR. As I've always maintained, this was SBR's last gift to NUFC, and unfortunately we won't be seeing the best of this fella. One of the best players at the club. With the right manager in charge of a stable club he will flourish. Would loathe to lose him to Wenger because I know the kind of player he would turn him into.

Good luck to him whatever happens

Duff is a name.

It's sad but he's got to do what he has to, i don't blame him.

I can imagine Duff having a great attitude in training, much better than Zog, but that alone shouldnt be a reason for picking him.

Shearer was apparantly not the best trainer, but no way in the world would he be left out for someone who had a great attitude

If we are brutally honest and put agendas to one side, there probably isnt that much between Duff and Zog, so Duff probably edges it on work rate and attitude in a managers eyes

Talented player who's been terribly mis-handled by numerous incompetent managers.

I've got a feeling the lad's a bit of a handful and causes a few headaches but it's the managers job to handle the players he has and, well... manage them properly and get the best out of them. We could be losing a player for a pittance who'll have a very good career somewhere else. :hmm:
