Guest
And I'm pretty sure if there was a racist inclination in what he'd done, that Agbonlahor, and even Beye who was right next to it, would have made something of it.
LoveItIfWeBeatU
FIFA will have to insist on putting mics on all players in future. The evidence they provide will come in handy for both prosecution and defence. Accuser - He said something racist! Accused - No I didn't! Media - We'll just assume he is guilty (unless later on he is proven innocent and then we will print a tiny retraction).

Perhaps they'll accuse Barton of intimidating them and threatening violence. Nah, they won't criticise Villa. They're media darlings at the minute. It'll be exactly the same as the meeting Keegan had with Ashley towards the end of last season. Eighteen pages of specualtion the day before the meeting, with a 4 inch column the day after. Benwell Lad
If this hasn't come from the player himself then who has it come from? a resteraunteur in Beaconsfield apparently. Guy Bradley, 37, was outraged after watching a different camera angle of the bust-up on Setantas Football Matters. The restaurateur, of Beaconsfield, Bucks, said: You can see Barton saying something and it looks like hes saying big lips. If this is true I think he should be out of the game for good. Enough impartial evidence there to have him hung tbh, bye bye Joey. I just spoke to someone in Beaconsfield who said he lip read someone in the town and believes he was saying that he got a rotten dose of food poisining after eating in Mr.Bradley's establishment. Dave
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/7710206.stm Villa said they would have supported Agbonlahor but that he had decided against taking the matter further. The club confirmed they studied video evidence but any suggestion of racism could not be 100% proved. Eh? So which was it? If the player said it was fuck all, why try and prove anything? Segun Oluwaniyi
It's funny, if you are to visit any other forum or place where people talk football, they are saying how much of a scum Barton is . People are saying things like, "Look at him. He gets a second chance, and this is how he acts. He should be permanently banned from football." I mean I'm no Barton sympathiser, but this is sheer insanity. He hasn't done anything. I mean goodness, watch a Stoke match and you will see much more disturbing violence. It would be another thing if he was racist in his insults, but there has been no evidence that he was (not even in the African players' reactions like in the Terry or Emre incidents), so what the hell are we talking about here. The real shocking thing is to see ex-footballers, who know how emotional it can be out on the pitch, lampoon Barton for someting so innocuous
TRon
Have Villa actually made any official comment about racism or is this all this stuff still being "reported" second hand?

Guest Darth Toon
BARTON `COULD STILL FACE CHARGE` Joey Barton could still face a Football Association charge despite Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor's decision not to lodge an official complaint over an alleged remark made by the Newcastle midfielder during Monday night's match at St James' Park. Reports on Wednesday morning alleged that Barton made a racist comment during a confrontation involving the pair following a first-half foul. However, it is understood that Agbonlahor has told Villa manager Martin O'Neill that he does not want to take the issue to FA disciplinary chiefs. But despite the England Under-21 star's unwillingness to press the issue, the FA are awaiting observations from the player and Aston Villa before deciding if Barton should be charged. The West Midlands club were contacted by the FA on Wednesday morning and have a week to provide their account of events. It is understood there is a determination at Soho Square to deal with the issue as quickly as possible, but crucially it is now clear they are willing to act without the expressed permission of Villa. Once they have submitted their accounts, the FA's Football Regulation Department will decide whether to charge Barton over his alleged remark. http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_4459057,00.html FFS, this is getting ridiculous now!
