Bolton v Newcastle United

Bolton secured a crucial win over Blackburn and fans will be hoping that can provide a platform for Owen Coyle's team to build on. They have a great chance to push forward and build some momentum over the Christmas period as games come thick and fast. It's an opportunity for teams to turn their fortunes around and they certainly have a good opportunity to get points on the board against an out of sorts Newcastle.

Winless in six, Newcastle's soft centre and squad depth is showing and fans will be hoping they can get some bodies in over the January window to bolster their chances of a top half finish, especially with the African Cup of Nations looming and top goalscorer Demba Ba scheduled to depart - possibly with Tiote, for altogether other reasons.

It'll be tight, but I don't think they'll get anything here though.

Prediction: 2-0

Newcastle haven't won in six games but they are still playing some good football, and the quality of Demba Ba's goals in Wednesday's defeat by West Brom was outstanding.

Bolton's win over Blackburn on Tuesday was massive for them and for manager Owen Coyle, and the encouraging thing for him is that they could have won that game more comfortably.

But it looks like they are going to But it looks like they are going to lose defender Gary Cahill in January, which is a major blow for them, and I am still not sure where their goals are going to come from at the other end either.

Both sides could really do with the win but I can see the points being shared in this one.

Prediction: 1-1
