Nobody
Fucking chuffed that they finally get to play together up front and that it's working for the both of them. Fuck off anyone who says you need a big man/small man partnership upfront.

Guest optimistic nit
i still dont think it works well. it may have today, but imo you need someone like viduka in there.
Liam Liam Liam O
i still dont think it works well. it may have today, but imo you need someone like viduka in there. People will say it works when we win & say it doesn't when we lose. As simple as that
Guest
6 goals between them in the last 4 and a half games since Owen came back from injury. Not bad.
The Prophet
Two small men can work, it depends on what system you play. No, we don't play an amazing system that perfectly suites both of them but they both have enough quality to score goals. As long as we continue to keep the ball on the deck they will cause teams problems.
Baggio
Martins has created a fair few chances for Owen when they've played together this season too.
Yorkie
As i've said elsewhere, i didn't see the game, so i'm being presumptuous here... but when you've got creative 'on-the-floor' players in your side like Jonas and Zog (and Oba too, really), then it certainly helps. Pump it long and there's no hope. I'd still have Geremi in there to counter the quick/byline approach from our current wingers.

Six goals between them in less four games and thirty minutes begs to differ. Especially considering three of those five games have been away from home (including one against the team at the time was top of the league) and the fact that Martins usually have been subbed well before the games have finished. JH
I'm suprised it worked. In the first half, I couldn't believe we were lumping balls up to them, expecting them to head it. Owen and Martins in the air against Distin and Campbell? Worked much better when we played it to feet.
Guest Howaythetoon
Could be a Shearer-Sir Les kind partnership, despite their return they themselves never exactly dovetailed perfectly.

Cronky
All game, I don't think they found one another with a pass more than 2 or 3 times. It's not a question of big man / small man. You just need someone up there who can hold the ball up and / or drop deeper to link with the midfield.

ElDiablo
It doesn't work, there's little to no interchange between them. But their styles complement each other now Owen drops deeper, they both play their own game rather than working together. Which is fine as long as there's support from midfield which there was today. Guest Jawesome
Peter Beardsley mentioned in a talk-in I was at a couple of years ago about the big man small man thing. Reckons you don't need a big man. You just need someone who can pass a ball to complement a pacey striker.

Guest firetotheworks
I honestly couldn't give a f*** how they link up if they both keep scoring. My thoughts in a nutshell. Goals mean its working, regardless of whether they directly link with each other or not.

As HTT mentioned before, Ferdinand & Shearer were never a great partnership as such, but they were both goalscorers with people who made goals for them.
