It's tough s*** basically. a s*** rule relating to 2 competitions is still a s*** rule It's not a shit rule though. You know at the beginning that there's 4 places for the Champions League and 3 places for Europa League. You know the criteria for getting in to both from day one of the season. Eh? We're more likely to be there next season, footballers careers are finite. Also, we've done better than expected this season, it'll be easier to 'under achieve' next season and that's when we'll be likely to lose players. As it stood Spurs could do literally nothing at all to prevent their CL place been taken from them as they weren't in the CL this year. Another 4 or 5 teams from each league should go into a different knock-out tournament. You could call it the UEFA Cup. alternativly, scrap the europa and top 5 from each go into the euro competition, no seeding, knockout from the start. But Chelsea finished 6th, would they qualify? Here's a crazy idea, the CHAMPIONS from every league in Europe go into the CHAMPIONS league, the cup winners from every league go into the Cup Winners Cup, and we automatically become the only English team to participate in the Uefa Cup to give us a chance of winning a trophy in my lifetime Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
