Ryan Faylor.

Winner

He's been terrible today - not just his set pieces, but his general play is below par. However, we don't have a whole lot of choice really, other than pray he can hold it together and do enough to keep Malouda from doing any real damage...

That's a stonewall pen for the foul on Owen. In fact, Styles could (arguably) have cost us enough points in shit decisions to make the difference between up and down.

Eh?

When was this stone cold pen?

About 30 seconds before the half time whistle, Terry trying to swap shirts with Owen.

Yeah nah.

1 - It was outside the box

2 - It was six of one and half a dozen of the other.

Ryan Taylor... can he be any worse? Shit free kicks, rash tackling and possessing no positional sense whatsoever.

We're doing ok. Our midfield is being overrun but we're tracking their runs so we've limited their chances. In attack, we haven't done much. Owen's still as useless as ever even though he's putting in some effort so our hopes really rest with Martins. Jonas has been ok but he's not getting the ball in a position where he can do something with it. Nolan has been invisible so saying that, I'd bring Guthrie on because he'd be able to spray it around a bit.

We should get a few more chances in the second half because Chelsea will push on more but that means that our defending has to be even better than it's been so far.

We look OK. I think everyone expected us to come out like a house on fire, hence why the atmosphere has gone flat.

They just cant seem to keep the ball and its infuriating. Just simple little passes we're letting go astray which is stop us gaining momentum, although we are closing down Chelsea quite well when the get near our half.

Ryan Taylor is awful, absolutely awful. His corners and free kicks are just shit.

I still think there's something in this for us but we cant let Chelsea score first.

Ok... we're keeping it tight. We're not allowing them much space to punish us but you have to question whether we have the legs to keep up that level of pressure for the 90 minutes. I really hope so because it's working. We have limited Chelsea to a couple of chances.

Taylor needs to step it up a bit.

Owen hasn't been as anonymous as usual. He looks to be putting himself about when he can. Something we'd expect to see as he's regaining fitness.

Defensively we've been decent. Safe and simple from Enrique, Beye, and Colo. Taylor hasn't done a great deal defensively.

Nolan has been hit and miss. Jonas is doing a lot of running... he's been helping out at the back and getting involved in the middle but isn't getting forward down the flanks as such.

Butt has been amazing-ish... still the odd rash challenge but I've lost count of how many times he's (cleanly!) won the ball in the middle for us. Passing still a little suspect.

Martins hasn't had much involvement barring the half-chance and a fantastic bit of skilful hold-up play. He does look to be putting himself about and trying to stretch the play and get on the end of our clearances.

Plenty to be positive about. If we can sneak a goal we might walk away with the points today.

Hardly. Why would Owen want to grapple with Terry when he can run around him?

Not suprised to see beye at CB, partially because of the team personnel, and partially for the way he pwned shearer in 2004.

What game was that?

Edit: Marseille?

Edit 2:

He was a key player for the Marseille side that reached the 2004 UEFA Cup Final' date=' a run which involved him putting in a star performance as a central defender against his current team Newcastle United, where he was particularly effective against Newcastle’s talisman striker Alan Shearer.[/quote']

How can he run around him? He's not very fast anymore.

It was very good defending by Terry, you can argue that it was a foul all you want, but you'd be wrong. You'd be fuming if it was given against us at the other end.

Why's everyone making a fuss over the Owen/Terry thing? It was excellent defending; nothing wrong with it at all, just good old strength and positioning to lead Owen away from the ball.

It was a good old fashioned slow player grabbing a faster player so that he doesn't get through on goal. Foul.

Need to get Duff on for Lovenkrands (Duff - yeah, I know!) Once again, we are crying out for a ball playing midfielder. Butt and Nolan aren't gonna unlock any doors for us.

Hes on for Loven :(

This. If that's a stonewall pen, the score would be double figures either side by now.

Styles has looked weak tho. Looks prone to being swayed by the utter cunts that Chelsea are - whining at every single decision that goes against them. I'm not normally bothered with Chelsea, at least not more so than any other team in the prem, but fuck me they're getting on my tits here.

He can't. He's slow as fuck.

What happened was similar to the Anelka/Beye thing in that Beye defended well by just pressuring and harrying Anelka, leaning into him to put him off. Terry similarly leant into Owen and lead him away from the ball; all perfectly legal.
