Where do people get this idea that his wages would be astronomical? He is a 35 yeat old centre back without a club and no prem teams after him. Would be a very good signing. Still looked serviceable in the prem just last season. Would be a real leader for us at the back and on the pitch in general.

Sol Campbell is a clumsy old donkey. He might be able to get by in the championship... but only until we meet a team with pace up front.

Hang on to Taylor. He's quick, he's physical, he gets froward, and he plays his heart out for the shirt.

He's the kind of player we want here long term.

Sol Campbell would have been good on a free 2 or 3 years ago.

I wouldn't touch him now, not even in the championship.

while cambells pace may be gone he still has one of the best defensive brains around which counts for a lot he could possibly bring a sense of organisation to the back line and also in set pieces which will be the main threat to our goals judging by last 2 games. He can also likely teach our other cbs a thing or two espicially our young guns like tozer and kadar and once hes done with football he could take up a coaching role

He's a name, he's a good looking black man with a huge appeal to the gay community, he is a marketable face. Words that can describe him:

Fresh

Physical

Intelligent

You don't pikc up those guys on teh cheap even when they're old and clearly shit.

Sol Campbell is not a defensive genius. Am I the only one to have watched MOTD over the last couple of years? He often gets the wrong side of players, flaps at well placed passes, puts his hands all over strikers etc.

Sol was a great defender but that was mainly because he's a fucking tank. He's no Cannavaro.

Sol Campbell has never been "clearly shit" though.

He is now and he's only going to get worse. We should be getting players without egos bigger than the club who will give us good years of service.

prove me wrong

I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY BECAUSE I AM AN IDIOT

We could get Mancienne on loan for half the cost according to my calculations.

Prove me wrong.

AS9 is tossing himself off at the thought of Campbell coming.

I'm tossing your mum off

Campbell is the wrong signing at the wrong time. He is a temperamental character and would not be a stabilising force on our fragile dressing room mentality.

That's in the Premiership though, and most of that is down to getting done for pace. Given that the Championship is a step down with less pacey/skillful/intelligent players in it, Campbell's size, strength, heading ability and experience make him a pretty worthy gamble.

In fact, I'd be suprised if Campbell's ability or even physique were a problem for us. I'd be more worried about injuries, because iirc he's had spells with Arsenal (prior to leaving) and Portsmouth where he's sturggled to get fit over somewhat long periods of time. If the management have half a brain on them, they'll make sure that any contract offered takes this into account, otherwise he could easily be no different to the dozens of leeches we've attracted in the past decade, players who've seen us as an easy and well paid final payday.

I love the experts on here who know all about Campell's supposed wage demands.

Maybe he's not attached to a club because the ones that came in for him were shit and had no potential unlike our beloved club.

Yeah, he's ambitious.

That's why he left Arsenal for Pompey.

That's exactly it.

I have no doubt he can perform on his day. But how often is his day going to come?

Injuries may keep him out... but also mentally he's not what we need. He's a brick shit house but he's a flaky brick shit house.

We don't want another confidence player. We don't need another ageing big name. We don't need another former international.

We need players that are on their way up and not on their way down. That's what got us here in the first place.
