With Walker and Richards presumably to be left at home, would anyone else be surprised if Simpson gets a call?

Would be fantastic for us :) I cant think who would go with Johnson, perhaps Phil Jones will be the back up right back.

that would be daft in the extreme, Jones hasn't exactly shone this season and if its an issue of covering cb Richards covers that too. Plus determining Johnson as better than Richards is insane

If Walker and Richards dont go .. they are the only other options.

There's still Perchinio.

All this talk/hype about Parker being the new defensive midfielder is just gonna end up the way Barry did at the last WC. Neither has the pace or intelligence to deal with forwards who play in the hole or AM who create havoc between the forward and midfield lines.

Still think Sturridge is our 2nd best English striker after Rooney. The lad was lethal upfront for Bolton & Chelsea as a striker, scoring for fun before AVB's genius switched him to the wing to accommodate Torres/Drogba. Hes said himself hes a striker.

Sturridge, Welbeck, Rooney has loads of potential.

Richards, Johnson, Jones, Simpson or Naughton as right backs.

Smalling and Walker definitely out?

I can see the squad looking like this. If rumours are true.

Def: G.Johnson, Jones, Cahill, Lescott, Terry, Jagielka, Baines, Cole

Midfield: A.Johnson, Walcott, Parker, Barry, Milner, Young, Gerrard, Lampard

Attack: Rooney, Carroll, Wellbeck, Sturridge

Was struggling to think of a centre-half instead of him. Dawson perhaps?

Thats a decent squad to be fair. With Richards invovled, would be the best.

Always sat on the bench for games i have seen, assumed Heitinga/Distin was their preferred partnership

Three times on the bench this season for him. Coming on once.

Distin 8 times on the bench, Heitinga 7 times on the bench.

Fair enough, there was a further issue i had aside from the mistaken belief he didnt get a game much recently. Ie he is not good enough. Lack of a more obvious candidate is worrying mind.

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll is set to be included in England's Euro 2012 squad. More soon.

Good move.
