Beye subbed after half-time Huddersfield melee

POLICE were called to the tunnel to restore order after Newcastle United's Habib Beye sparked a half-time bust-up at the Galpharm Stadium tonight.

Beye was at the centre of an ugly confrontation after the whistle went for the break.

The incident seemed to stem from a free kick late in the half, and as the players headed for the tunnel, Beye and Huddersfield Town captain Peter Clarke had to be separated by team-mates, coaching staff and stewards.

Beye - who last week revealed he wants to leave St James's Park - was substituted at the interval, and watched the second half from the directors' box.

53 mins - GREAT SAVE! Huddersfield's Alex Smithies is at full stretch to turn Ameobi's piledriver behind after the latest of many strong runs from LuaLua. Then from the resulting corner, Coloccini controls a half-volley which Smithies does well to palm over the bar.

The minute the world went mad
