Krul should be first choice imo, He's only played twice and in both games has been outstanding, it might sound mental but I can honestly see him becoming one of the best keepers in the world.  You can see the difference having a big keeper makes, crosses are not an issue and he's so agile for his size.  We've spent too long with just shot stoppers, the defence will be way more confident with a big lad in nets.

Unbelievable.

Did you see yesterday?

Yes he's a very good keeper for his age and some of his saves yesterday were also good, but let's not get carried away. He still has a long way to go and alot to learn. For alot of the crosses yesterday, he was flapping like a bird at them.

He was also plucking a lot out of the air.  He's bound to be a little nervous when you get thrown in that suddenly.

Harper's only going to get worse, Krul can only get better.

I agree. Doesn't mean we should get carried away though. He's still got things to learn so lets not suddenly think he can be one of the world's best just yet.

Our forward line was piss poor with Shola up there and if Carrols playing regular we need something different beside him so its not predictable target man stuff ,Colo was abysmal tbh how he has played for the Argy national team is beyond me ,we could with a bit more threat have won that game and  it was a relief to see them fight back for a change instead of capitulating like last season ,the football in this division will not be like yesterdays imho but more getting kicked up a height by the opposition cos of who we are and i noticed the ref yesterday didnt keep stopping the game like in the premiership for diving etc but more free flowing but i dont know if that was beer goggles .I wasnt impressed with Shearer slagging Carrol off for not passing the ball to Duffs left foot for that chance that he missed as i thought it was a good ball and duff should have hit the target tbh.

based on the fact we played incredibly s***

Nah, we didn't.

We were dreadful - we literally had no structure what-so-ever. Our best two Strikers were Ryan and Steven Taylor, while Nolan was fairly none-existant and Shola and Caroll did his work for him dropping into midfield. Duff, Smith, 3 out of our back four and Krul were the ones to come out of it with a bit of credibility.

On a scale of Incredibly shit to incredibly good, we were neither. I thought we played pretty well considering we were playing promotion contenders, away from home, with a depleted squad from one that was already thin and with no manager and obviously all the other shit thats going on. In fact, even without all that I still think we played well. Bossed it.

Tbf, I have probably just woke up to the shit we played last season, Saturday was just like last season but our club is in a far worse state. So given the circumstances I can see where y'all coming from. However, on the other side of the coin, people think that because we're in a worse division and playing promotion favourites that the same shit from last season is more acceptable, when it quite simply isn't...

I thought we were good on Saturday. Certainly bossed the game but lack quality in certain areas. I actually thought Nolan was fairly decent, and im not a fan of him. We have to play with what we have at the moment really and the players who didnt have good games, its because they're shit rather than lack of effort. (Raylor, Colo and Ameobi) Thats not going to change until we bring in new faces. The only strange decision for me was to play Duff on the right and Jonas on the left.

I was really heartened by the game yesterday... I think we played a lot better than the majority of last season.

We need a specialist RB and some pace in midfield, and up front, but then we knew that already.

Would like to see Ranger given more minutes from now on, and also Barton start ahead of Nolan. There might be an argument for throwing in Kadar instead of Colo as well.

Smith actually played pretty well I thought, I'm not normally a fan of effort over ability but he gave a lot for the team and that's exactly what we need in our current situation.

Without Ameobi we'd have lost that game since at least two of those saves were completely beyond the physical abilities of Harper.

Shola knew this, he watches Krul in training, and after Harper fuked up for the goal he took matters in to his own hands feet, and clobbered him one.

MOM - Shola the Destroyer.

Watching the highlights on Fox Sports, once the minute the silence was finished, they termed it, getting the formalities out of the way. Couldn't help but think it was fucking disrespectful.

He's a shrewd one that Ameobi. He'll be a top manager one day.

Just got back from a long weekend away, few random musings on the game.

Krul was a bit of a hero, obviously a long way from the finished article but it'll be hard to drop him after that. Thought Jose was the pick of the defenders, looks very strong. Will need to improve going forward if Jonas is going to play like that all year, he was fucking abysmal: disinterested, heavy legged and the worst crosser of a football we've had since Peter Ramage. Shola isn't good enough for this league, his off the ball movement was utterly terrible. Smith looked decent, and could be good enough for this league if he plays alongside someone with a bit of pace and intelligence (i.e. not Nolan). Duff took his goal very well, really good move too. Ranger looked full of running, and fucking massive. Should have got more time.

Cracking day out too, some very funny banter with the Baggies who were generally a very funny and friendly bunch. If anyone else was there, the banter at the train station on the platform before heading back into Birmingham was fucking hilarious too

I'm so pleased the football has started again.

Also, why did Duff have luminous yellow things around his legs? Think gutierrez might have done too.

nike pro shorts mate, have to be the closest colour to the strip being worn as possible.
