Ginola
He is a constant talker/shouter which helps a lot. Absolutely f***ing bollocking Nolan for not tracking back and making him dive in, at five nowt up, that's what I like to see Aye, I loved that. WarrenBartonCentrePartin
I fucking love him. The fact he's been a bit of a dickhead in the past and no-one else likes him makes it even better. He's a bit like our Robbie Savage, only with more ability and looks less like a cunt.
merlin
Barton has great ability - it has taken him a few years to really show that at SJP but he is producing now. As a player, he is very good, but you always fear that his dark side will re-emerge(as with Gamst Pedersen) and cost us points because he is suspended...also, refs are looking for him, whereas when other players commit similar offences, they get off Scot free. Right now, we need Barton and as long as he keeps his nose clean all well and good - if he steps out of line again it will be time to review the situation. Main attribute is his passing ; I still question his fitness/stamina over 90 mins. A player like Charlie Adam may be his replacement in due course, but then we would need a RW...as if we didn't already...

Guest TheSummerOf69
Right now, we need Barton and as long as he keeps his nose clean all well and good - if he steps out of line again it will be time to review the situation. Part of me thinks that he will feck it up again because he always does, so grab the money and save his massive wages to use elsewhere while we can. But, the other part of me says that until we're regularly up the top of the league we just can't get players that good who haven't got flaws (like being injury-prone, violent, argumentative etc) so let's just cross our fingers and hope for the best. For the first time Barton's run of form has been so good that I'm now leaning towards the latter viewpoint. He's finally winning me over!
OoOGazOoO
I have to say, Barton has been absolutely fantastic this season, he has improved so much.
Stu
What's also pleasing is his relationship with Tiote. The two know each others games perfectly now. Bit much for just 6 months, give it another season and they'll know each other inside out, but that goes for all of our squad. Team chemistry has been the real key over the past 18months, ironically, a side effect of Ashley not wanting to incur the costs of buying/selling players whenever a new manager comes in

When did we last sell a player who was playing well and wanted to stay?
Dave
I hope he doesn't get an England call-up tbh. Fuck them. He'll only get injured anyway.
Fenham Mag
He really is playing out of his skin. The lad has incredible technique which i was not aware of over the past few years, playing balls with the outside of his foot like he's Nobby Solano. Loved the little pass to Best, with the outside of his boot, at the end of the first half. He was so calm and composed and knew exactly what and when to do it. wormy
simpson, barton and AC9 all in the same england team? Who'd have thought that Can't see it ever happening though. Simmo might one day get a chance, just due to the lack of depth at right back. But I don't think any manager England get in the near future would have to balls to pick someone with the reputation of Barton. And good. Let's not waste him on England. Scoot
Class performance again last night. I often have a go at his set pieces and his passing due t them going slightly off course but he was bang on last night.

Guest Tall Striker
We shouldn't be considering playing him anywhere other than the RW at the moment. I have a bad feeling that if we pull off the Bentley deal then we'll see him back in the middle, where he's far less effective.

A couple of months later and we discover his true position.
Exiled in Texas
http://www.teamtalk.com/west-ham/6607836/Joey-Hammer-Piss-Take Thursday 7th January 2011 16:13 West Ham confirmed their interest in signing Newcastle's midfielder Joey Barton today after watching him closely in a recent match. The 28-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of next season, has been linked with both West Ham and Aston Villa in recent days, with some reports suggesting he could be available for as little as £1.5million. But after watching Barton excel in last nights game for Newcastle, beleagured West Ham manager, Avram Grant confirmed his interest in the player, who was also watched by the entire Hammers coaching staff and their owners David Gold and Sullivan. The midfielder has been in outstanding form this season and has been the subject of interest from West Ham and Aston Villa. But he has just 18 months left on his £60,000 a week contract and rather than open negotiations on a new contract Newcastle are looking to cash in now if the deal is right. Barton's agent Willie McKay told skysports.com: "I believe West Ham made an enquiry for Joey after his superb performance in his most recent game that was watched by the entire West Ham coaching staff." "Joey is enjoying his football again and he is committed to Newcastle unless he is told otherwise. It is up to the two clubs to agree a deal and once that happens then we can sit down and discuss a possible move." Avram Grant told SkySport: "Joey was excellent last night, and we really could use his talent and energy to help in the run in and our bid to retain our place in the Barclays Premier League" {{snicker}}
