80
Shouldn't be nearly so confident. Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest to see him go this month.
Guest Stephen927
Barton has burned his bridges with too many senior England players to ever be called up again.

Guest GeordieAce
Did he not release a statement a few weeks back pledging his future ?
80
Won't be at Barton's initiative, I don't think, but as his agent (specialist shit-stirrer admittedly but I'd guess he's just doing his job this time) said in the new article above, he's 'committed to Newcastle unless he's told otherwise'. Avram Grant releasing statements, rumours in the media for over a month now iirc, an expensive contract not too far from it's expiration date and a player with a track record that suggests he won't take a 50% pay cut, which I wouldn't be surprised to hear is being asked of him by our Board. Going on what I know of Barton too, if our Board even began to entertain the idea of his being sold to West Ham, he'd take it as confirmation that he and the other players were being lied to by Llambias as he suggested might have been the case, which I don't imagine he'd take kindly to. Not saying he will go, but I'm not going to laugh at the idea of it - think it's significantly more likely than Carroll going.

Ah, that's slightly embarrassing Still, I stand by most of what I said, the idea of him going isn't laughable. A similar statement was issued by Mackay two or three weeks ago iirc. Gallowgate Toon
It's pretty clear McKay is stirring the shit atm just to get Joey a contract extension as the article states he only has 18 months left.

madras
Simpsons - Colo - Willi - Enrique ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- -------------Barton------------------- ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- Routledge - Nolan - Gutierrez ----------Best - Carroll Not a player within 10 yards at all time, that would make him a world class player. drop tiote eh ? Colocho
Our most important player by a distance. tiote. Barton's been one of the best playmakers in the league this season. Still think he contributes more than Tiote.
PRL
In fairness they're both integral to the team. Wouldn't put either of them 'most important by a distance'
David28
That's not so easy to say who's been our best player imo. Without Tiote we might have conceded far more goals and without Barton we wouldn't have scored that many. You can add Carroll to that sort of 'most important player' as well. wormy
Tiote holds the team together, but Barton is the creative outlet. Both integral to this team's success. Wouldn't say either are much more important than the other, but if I had to choose, Tiote is what holds the team together to allow Barton the time to do what he does. I would have thought the URL was a bit of a giveaway, not to mention the fact it doesn't work. Yeah, it was fake. I was just pissing about as during the game, I kept thingking that only a few weeks ago the Hammers wanted to buy Barton for a pittance and then he dismantled them in the game. I thought the URL would be the give away.
joeyt
Forgot to mention after the West Ham game, but I loved it when he wanted to have a look at the back Hines shirt, as if to say ''who are you''
