Guest The_Optimistic
I have no doubt in my mind that Newcastle United want to keep this player , however if like Andy Carolls agent , Joey Bartons agent is demanding silly wages then well done and fair play to Newcastles board for sticking to there guns. We either want a stable club in a good financial position or go back to square one. . . . My only other point is that , in all honesty , if we want to be a big club once again , you might have to break the bank now and then for core players who have proven themselves to be a fighter for the team , and Joey Barton is one of them. LesPaul
Probably didn't want to take a pay cut. It's not like he owes us anything... Yee for real? We put up with him being an absolute daft c*** for years. I do believe that is what we were both getting at. He owes this club, bigtime.

Ketsbaia
The next evening talk will be interesting. Hopefully this is all part of the neogitation process, but it all sounded so final there. Lets hope the club comes to their senses soon, because whilst the Carroll deal didn't break the team spirit, doing this to Barton will. Having said that, if we do sign a winger and this 'international central midfielder', unfortunately I'd struggle to find a place for Joey in the first XI. Frazzle
Whilst there is a massive chance this is a cock-up on the part of the ownership...I think Barton should settle what he's being offered. Sounds harsh but he's the one who keeps banging on about wanting to stay and kissing the badge etc.
Dokko
What a fucking joke. How do you reward your standout performers? By not offering them a contract and letting them leave for free! Think all the high earners left like Joey, Jose, Colo and Nolan (apparently) will be following him out the door. Maybe they won't fancy taking a massive pay cut either, who knows. Either way, the board strikes again. What is that now, fuck up #896? Would you be willing to pay Joey £70kpw in to his 30's? Not that's what he's demanding, im just pointing out the club might be protecting itself for the future depending on his demands. He's lived a good life off us for some time, most of it injured or in prison, maybe the club feels the deal they are offering is a good one considering the past. Who knows? His agent is one of the biggest cunts on the planet as well, sure that doesn't help things.
TRon
The club has taken the right decision, unpopular though it may be.

Guest hobshobs
Not at all surprised considering Willie McKay is the agent. That said I'd rather Joey stayed ahead of Nolan. Better all round player and as important, more pacy.

Jack Flash
As much as most of us like Barton, he is replaceable. I'd try far harder to keep Enrique than Barton because Enrique is a much better player.

adam1
I reckon the board and Joey have come to this decision mutually.. IMO Joey wants to end his career abroad, and whilst not wanting to look a cunt to the fans, doesnt want to stop at Newcastle any longer than he has to. taxfree
So that's possibly three of our very best players gone in a very short periode of time. Ambitious.
David Icke - Son of God
The problem is that if what McKay says is correct there's nee chance the club will let him run down his contract. They'll flog him now and save the £68,000 a week which means on top of two strikers and in all probability a left back we now have to find not one but midfielders. I can't see us bringing in 5 players this summer regardless of outgoings.

TRon
There goes the good spirit in the camp. I doubt Joey is that great on the camp spirit side. He wasn't even part of it for most of the season we won promotion. In any case a player who is willing to move clubs to get the right deal isn't going to be one to instil team spirit at his current club.
