When you get clowns like Jason calling him a scumbag and bringing up the jail time on the back of 1 bad performance, of course people are gonna get defensive. Dickhead fans of other clubs will never stop going on about his past, we don't need it from our own. Especially when it's completely unjust. Bad performance today, that's all that needed to be said. Certainly those kinds of comments aren't justified, but my point is that those extreme views shouldn't be used to totally overlook the very real criticism of his performance as a footballer and captain today. That's all. And that's what the vast, vast majority of those who are criticising him today are saying. After all, the point of this thread is to discuss Barton's role at the club. How about we focus on the actual dross that needs shipped out like the 2 Taylor's, Guthrie, Lovenkrands instead of hanging Barton out to dry because of one match. who is hanging him out to dry? he's set himself up for a fall. How? by making stupid comments in the press. If those comments had been released before the Wolves game, you wouldn't be coming out with all this guff. Hush. but they weren't, and that is what is important. had they came out then and he put in a big performance, then he'd get away with the comments. the extra pressure and scrutiny from not only fans and press but other players only comes into effect once they're made public. pretty simple stuff to understand for most people. Overall, poor game from Barton. Really wanted to play the big man, with being captain today. And it detracted from him just getting on with playing. Really pissed me off with him running up to the referee pointing to his armband in the first half, what was the point? He's called for the handball, it wasn't given.
