thenige
Couldn't see that this had been posted elsewhere: Morten Gamst Pedersen has accepted a personal apology from Joey Barton and insisted he has no problem with the Newcastle midfielder. Barton is serving a three-match ban after punching Blackburn's Pedersen in the stomach during Rovers' 2-1 victory at St James' Park last week. It is the latest in a string of controversial moments during Barton's career but Pedersen spoke up for the 28-year-old, who issued an apology before phoning the Norwegian on Friday. Pedersen said in the Lancashire Telegraph: "I couldn't answer the phone at that moment but he left a nice message on my answering machine and I called him up the minute we had finished our team meeting. "Joey shows that there is more to him than what came out on the pitch the other day, and I really appreciate it. It's not everyone who has the courage to call to apologise after such an episode, but Joey did without hesitation. "Both me and Joey are professional and fully agree to put this behind us, and that we can laugh about the whole thing next time we meet." Fair play to Pedersen to be honest. Glad they can both draw a line under it and move on.
Dave
About ten posts up. I see they've used the Alan Oliver method of reporting as well.
Ameritoon
I fucking hate MGP and his smug little face, but he's handle the situation extremely well.
AyeDubbleYoo
On the other hand, he did leave his shoulder in, in order to provoke Barton, then went down like a bag of hammers after a minor incident. I'm not excusing Barton, but Pederson's hardly a noble hero.
Dave
Is it going too far to suggest Barton will never play for England again thanks to this? I don't particularly mean the incident itself, I mean that he's probably been playing better than ever and was close to being called up as he has been since he won his cap. He's blown it for good now IMO.
Kaizero
Had a few people PM and ask for the Joey/Dexter mash-up wallpaper, so I'm just posting it here for anyone else that might want it. http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/3489/joeywallpaper.jpg

As long as he's playing well enough to warrant a call up but isn't getting one due to his reputation it can only be better for us Just need Carroll to glass a few more people and we're sorted... Guest ObiChrisKenobi
1 down, 2 to go. Really missed him against Fulham, like. Odd to think how important he is to the way we play now, really links everything together.

JH
We missed him on Saturday, gonna miss his other two exclusions- Twice the player of Danny Guthrie. And yet the set pieces were to a higher standard on Saturday
Dokko
Guthrie's just come back from a lengthy injury, Barton is the the best form he's been in in about 4 seasons, I can see why you made the comparison.

Nobody
Guthries deliveries from corners has always been better than Bartons. Barton is better at delivering crosses from free kicks, and neither of them are good enough at scoring directly from a free kick.

For me it's: Best at corners - Guthrie Best at distance free kicks - Barton Best at close free kicks - R.Taylor
