What would you say if you were trying to convince Barton to stay?

Doesn't he want to stay anyway?

The issue is the contract that was offered at the turn of the year wasn't lucrative enough?

But its still supposedly up to him whether he stays with us for the final year of his contract or chooses to sign for QPR now, i dont see the point of signing for them now, he's hardly going to do worse at the end of the season, and if he gets another good season in he a) might be offered a better contract if Mike changes his mind and b) could sign for a better club, not a top 4 club obviously but a top half club surely.

Please don't let this be true. The man is a complete scumbag, a real lowlife, even as 'professional' footballers go (and let's face it that often goes pretty low). Yes he might be a quite good 'combative' midfielder but what a complete prick he is. Regular red cards for nutting people and regular arrests for punching people's lights out for no reason outside a McDonalds at 1am.

Opinion of some QPR fan. Someone should send it Joey via twitter.

Regular?

Blatantly pissed off that his only option is QPR. In his mind I'm sure he thought there would be a bigger choice of better clubs. Especially after McKay was slavvering on about Champions League clubs and options in other leagues.

Apparently not....Reality bites Joey lad.

Apparantly he's at QPR now.

It was always the plan to meet with QPR today either way. David Craig said he was meeting them at 11.30 this morning. Joey has since said that he needs to make a decision today, so I wouldn't read too much into him being there.

Surely if he was about to say them he won't sign a phone call would be enough.

Anyway, no when it gets closer to the decision I won't be in the house for 1 hour or so. Hope I'll be back and he's still a player here.

When it comes down to it QPR are the only club that wants him and that's on a free. Would be a massive gamble to let his contract run down and try to get a club on similar wages
