Guthrie's not good enough. Him going increases the like of Vuckic and Ferguson getting the chance to prove themselves. They may sink, they may swim but at least we'll know what their potential is.

We already know how good/poor Guthrie is. Him leaving opens doors for others.

Yep, agree with this. He's contributed nothing this season.

Exactly man. People whinge about not blooding youngsters, what better chance is there than now when there's no danger of relegation? Plus we're getting rid of a player who's clearly not good enough.

If the youngsters are good enough why aren't they getting in already? Makes no sense to get rid of someone who may still be needed in this campaign just give them a go, give them a go anyway. I find it hard to believe that Guthries relatively nothing wages make much of a different on the old balance sheet.

But loaning him to a Championship club potentially on the way up puts him in the shop window to get £2m or so in the summer.

Who's going to fill in when Tiote picks up that inevitable yellow card? Guthrie did alright a few weeks ago when he did. Are we that desperate to get that 4 grand a week off the wage bill?

:sadnod:

Not to mention R.Tayor's suspension, Barton's possible injury and Gosling/Ireland not yet fit. Yet another genius move like.

He's already proven himself in the Championship though.

Probably more to do with the fee we eventually get for him. If he helps to get Forest up then his 'worth' will be reasonably high.

Had he stayed here then no-one would have given a bucket of piss for him. Him going out puts him in the shop window. Hopefully some twat will be daft enough to give us a million for him.

Like Ameobi at Stoke? ;)

But if he comes up with Forest, they've already seen what he can/can't do, will have been a part of the setup & squad, and will make it more likely they give us a few million from him rather than other targets. If he's not good enough for them, then there's no point of keeping him here in the first place.

With Barton possibly crocked and Taylor out for three games, we should be trying to get Routledge back, not attempting to get more midfielders off the books.

You'd think having to utilise Lovenkrands on the right wing would have rung the alarm bell like.

Not to mention Simpson on Saturday as well

Similar.

If he's a success then he'll probably leave for a decent fee. If he flops then we've lost very little.

Routledge not being here is ridiculous. He would have played a big part for us this last month had he still been here.

That's still a barmy decision.

f***ing exactly.

If we'd been in a relegation battle, I'd agree. If we lose Barton & Tiote to injury or suspension or whatever then we'd miss out on Europe whether we had Routledge & Guthrie playing, or Perch & Lovenkrands.

We've got two players who'd offer little to the overall position we finish this season in the shop window now where QPR & Forest will probably give us £4-5m for two players who will not be good enough for us next season.

Look at the bigger picture man instead of, "ooo what if Tiote's out for two games and Perch has to play twice and we finish 12th.

Our bench is absolutely dire though. We have nothing to change a game or to bring on if a player gets injured. If Barton is out who do we play RM against Everton?

Jonas or Ranger?

If Jonas goes right then who plays on the left?

Ranger out wide?

The depth is pathetic. Especially when half our midfield are just a card or 2 away from a ban. We're needlessly stretching our squad. I'd bet Routledge and Guthrie are on a pittance in terms of wages too.

Guthrie is on £4k p/w if he is still on the same contract he had when he went to court.

Mental that his teammate Owen was earning more than 25 x him.

Why would we do it? Could only be for massive financial benefit.
