Greg
a few quotes from Everton forums http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/everton-forum/20575-steven-taylor.html God no! This guy handballs, gives away penalties and is generally one of the worst defenders to grace the premiership, he makes poor decisions, is bad at marking and lunges in without thinking. I do like this quote from one of their posters Wouldn't mind Ryan Taylor one bit. Would be a massive improvement on Hibbert. Very true. Hibbert must be worse than shite in that case. (Voice of experience from me) Didn't realize until seeing some of your posts on everton - their games, etc.
Dokko
The nightmare continues. Well there goes the club, selling players is one thing, selling our only youth player to have made it in a decade is another. He should be the last out the door. Disgraceful from a complete joke of a club, the fee is laughable as well. Fuk you Newcastle, this is one kick in the teeth too far.

Hibbert's much like Ameobi in that once in a while he'll have a decent game, be strong in the tackle and the guy hes up against will not get much success. 90% of the time, he's fucking woeful, and only specialises in hoofing the ball down the field to absolutely no-one. What fascinates me is that when Yobo was younger he was a very good prospect at right back and really shone there for Nigeria. Even till this day I much prefer him at that position. However, last season after Jagielka and Lescott formed a strong pairing at centre back, Moyes left Yobo on the bench and played Hibbert at right back! I found this quite disturbing. KaKa
Heres the thing about this Steven Taylor thing. He's been pretty good in the last year (very good when at right back though!), but if we are looking at this strictly from the point of view of his abilities then if he wants to go and the offer is £8 million?! Then it's adios for me. The issues are of course that he is pretty much the face of the team for many now as the main Geordie in the team and this is pretty important. Also, it does seem as though he could actually be a much better defender for us at this level too. Basically it all comes down to what will be done with the money we receive for him if he does go. Do we then use the money to get in a couple of affordable players for this level? For example Beckford and Killgallon? Seeing as the money would likely take care of both their fees and a lot of their wages? The likelihood is of course no. Therefore it's a worrying move on the whole to sell him. ChezGiven
Taylor's wages will cover the wages of either of those two. Didnt he negotiate upwards of 30k per week?

Zero
It's very silly to think that the money will be re-invested, Kaka. Never going to happen under Ashley.

As well as Newcastle being a pretty firm second team, and also having a canny amount of connections with the place generally, I come on here more than Everton forums because generally, I encounter a ridiculous amount of mongs on them, who can't articulate a coherent sentence. I don't however really know why you or others have been banned from the forums. If it's for nothing but you being a non-Everton fan, then it's absolutely ridiculous. Edit: That said, if the moderators/admins of the forum are insistent on it being Everton-only, then that's their decision.

KaKa
It's very silly to think that the money will be re-invested, Kaka. Never going to happen under Ashley. Unfortunately, this is most likely correct. This is the reason why we cannot afford to sell him. Otherwise, I can't say it would have devastated me that much. Taylor is okayish as a centre back really and nothing more. Not sure he'd ever be able to achieve Lescott's level at Everton, or even come close tbh. Was hoping Taylor himself would reject the move outright, would boost his profile at our club no end.
Guest Milburnthedog
It doesn't matter what price we get for Taylor, we'll not see any of it re-invested back in to the team. This is pure asset stripping and wage saving. This will leave us even shorter of players and in serious trouble when injuries and suspensions start to kick in. We were poor enough before this, now we'll be very weak at the back. I really fear now for this season, unless something happens very quickly and we're not too far behind the pace when January comes. What a mess.
