Wullie
anyone else think words were said at half time. I know we have the habit of making the oppo wait at SJP after half time but the way the team came out and how long we made them wait........... Definitely imo. Greg
Don't like it when we attack the Gallowgate first half, still we won so I shouldn't complain.

Deffo something up, bloke in front signalled to Harper "What's up?" and Harper just shook his head.
Ronaldo
Without Barton we had no intention to play football and anyone who thinks Alan Smith is any sort of answer needs a talking to. We simply must buy a winger in order to let Barton and Guthrie shine.
Yorkie
Harper - 6. Distribution was pretty poor and i daresay his communication wasn't that great. There was one moment in the first half where Colo just hoofed if out when Harper could've just collected it. Made one or two decent saves though. Simpson - 6. Looked really nervous at the start of the game but i reckon he's gonna be a decent player for us. You can see that his heart's in it; he was well chuffed with himself when he chased back to make that tackle in the box midway through the second half (which was a quality bit of defending in itself). Remains to be seen what he's like from an attacking point of view. Taylor - 8. Man of the match for me; we're truly fucked without him tbh. The amount of times he mopped up for the dogturd Coloccini was seriously alarming. Dominated the air. And but for a reckless challenge that earnt him a booking, he was calm, collected and blatantly a class above almost everyone on the pitch. Coloccini - 5. Really shoddy tonight i thought. I'm sick of him making the exact same mistakes. Keeping too high a line, getting done on the turn, and being in no-man's land. It's almost as if any striker with an ounce of pace, regardless of their footballing ability, can pwn Colo all night long. Sick of the sight of him tbh, hope we get Campbell in. What he'll lack in pace he'll make up for in having brain and balls. Coloccini's rubbish. Enrique - 8. Our only other especially good player tonight, along with Taylor. Again, just quite clearly a class above this league and i daresay he's well and truly up for this fight. Hope we hang onto him. Taylor - 4. This man is absolute fucking dogturd. There are few players with worse footballing ability that i've seen play for us in all honesty. He can whip in a reasonable set piece and in fairness he did have a cracking free-kick that forced a good save, but from start to finish he didn't get in position, gave the ball away, and basically just didn't have a clue what to do with it when he had it. Toss player - we need a right-winger. Smith - 5. Worst performance from him so far this season. Tonight saw the reckless, hot-headed side of Smith which simply just does nothing for us. He didn't retain possession anywhere near aswell as he did against WBA or Reading. Nolan - 5. Most invisible Newcastle player, ever. Jonas - 6. Similar performance really. No end product but worked well with Jose and helped us, if for the very fact he was on the pitch. Their right-back simply sprinting over and pushing him into the advertising boards just summed up what he gives to us. He rapes defenders for fitness and encourages more people to man-mark him, leaving space open in the middle. He's crucially important to us, especially when there's nowt on the other wing. Ameobi - 7. Decent performance from the lad. Put himself about well - particularly on the left-flank. Held up the ball and took his goal very nicely. Carroll - 6. He's a good player is Carroll but he needs a goal. Brought the ball down well, kept possession, held it up, good assist. We were lost upfront when he went off. Xisco was shit, Ranger was better, Guthrie looks a class above this league and must be played now he is fit.

If Loven comes back (which i'd be suprised about) we may see him on the Left hand side with Jonas on the right.

BottledDog
Nice interviews from Simpson and Shola on NUFC TV tonight. God, always loved the lad in his interviews but it makes a hell of a difference listening to him when he has goals to back him up.
Bowie
More daft decisions on Hughtons behalf imo. Should have replaced Smith for Guthrie soon as it seemed evident he had a good chance of getting sent off. Should have brought Ranger on instead of Xisco to replace Caroll aswell. toontownman
Will be interesting to see what they do at Palace when Guthrie and Barton a likely to be fully fit. Probably just Barton in for Simpson. Cant see them dropping Smith, maybe an outside chance of Nolan being relegated to the bench.
Pav
One thing to add, Shola got a nock at some point in the second half and after that he was utter, utter shite. Should have been subbed off way earlier as he was doing nowt.

Yorkie
In other words Smith shouldn't have started How'dyou work that out then? He was good against WBA and Reading and merited a palce in the side, especially if Guthrie wasn't 100% fit. We all know you hate Hughton for some bizarre reason, but expecting him to pre-judge the events of the match before he picks the team is a bit much like - you've got to admit. Ronaldo
Shola's fitness is pretty poor tbh, he always fades badly in the last 20 minutes. Btw, has ever started a game and scored in the last 10 minutes? I bet it hasn't happened much

He wasn't good against Reading like. He did exactly the same as today - started out ok, got booked for a ludicrous challenge (should have been sent off actually vs Reading) then spent the next 70 minutes anonymous because he was no longer able to do what he does best (actually the only thing he does) - lunge. I'd say the peroxide has killed his brain cells but I don't think he had any in the first place. Liability. Get rid.
Ronaldo
He should have been sent off tonight; in the second half he gave away a free-kick in a very dangerous area with a stupidly late challenge. He's an absolute fucking liability.

He's an absolute fucking liability. Aye if Harper hadn't pulled off a good save, I think the brain-dead fuck would actually have caused my blood to boil over (especially once I'd heard it was SMB who would have scored). What sort of captain is he when he's constantly toeing the line of a red card and giving away set pieces in dangerous areas? I swear to God, when he gave away that free kick at Wigan two seasons ago after Ryan Taylor had already warmed up his anti-Geordie right foot, I don't know how I resisted the temptation to run on the pitch and strangle the stupid prick. He's an absolute f***ing liability. More like the Smith we have seen at Newcastle since he arrived. Shame he was immense at West Brom. We cant really blame it on fitness or confidence either, like both Butt and Nolan any rare positives are overshadowed by the fact he just he loses posession far too often, contributes far too little, gives away stupid free kicks and shows little evidence of having a functioning brain let alone a footballing one. Would be happy to see him go, provided we keep Barton and Guthrie around.
Guest Geordie Boyo
I had a fu*#ing nightmare of a day there. I'd got 36 tickets for two groups of people I work with. They have various health problems, like mental health, heart & joint problems. The free tickets we got from NUFC were in L7A in the Milburn stand....! Just before half time one of the people I got tickets for had an angina attack, which later tunred into a small heart attack when in the first aid room at St James. I stayed with and wen down to the RVI with him to make sure he was ok. I'm shattered this morning, but because I gave the tickets out I feel like total shit...! He'd taken his spray twice while sitting down on L7, but it was seven flights of stairs combined with the sheer heat up there that knocked him. When I got the tickets I just noticed it said 'Milburn Stand, Family Area' so I just assumend it would be down where I've had tickets before, much lower down. It wasn't till the day before I realised it was actually iin Level 7, but the email that was sent to the lass at NUFC explained the various health problems, so I just assumed they would be canny seats. Feel like shit this morning and I would imagine the guy who had the angina attack is feeling a lot of a lot worse.
