Just noticed, Warburton even comes up with "six first division titles" in his article.

He's lumping the Championship/old League 2 titles in with  old Division 1/Premier League titles.

Dunno if the Telegraph's retort was posted.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/10030947/Newcastle-United-bans-Telegraph-from-attending-matches-following-dressing-room-split-revelations.html

Telegraph Sport's north-east football reporter Luke Edwards disclosed on Tuesday that the club's struggle for Premier League survival has been undermined by acrimony between different sets of players at the club.

One group believes that another, mainly French, group of players have not been committed enough to Newcastle in recent weeks, spending too much time complaining about manager Alan Pardew and pursuing their own personal agendas.

They also believe one player has allowed his fitness levels to decline dramatically and that several players did not understand the importance of keeping Newcastle in the Premier League.

The story was written on the basis of verbal and written accounts of the split provided by several sources, including individuals employed by the club.

But Newcastle have reacted by sending the Telegraph a solicitor's letter demanding the story be withdrawn from our website and a public apology be issued.

The letter, from London-based solicitors Russell-Cooke, said: "Having carefully considered the content of the article Newcastle United have asked for it to be made clear that unless a full apology is received from the Daily Telegraph and the article is immediately withdrawn from the Telegraph online edition, then both Luke Edwards and any representative of the Daily Telegraph/Sunday Telegraph will be banned from attending St James' Park and from attending any Newcastle United pre-match press conferences and all Newcastle United player interviews at the training facilities with immediate effect."

We regret the club's decision to ban the Telegraph from attending matches and press conferences, but will not allow it to prevent us providing the most incisive, trustworthy Newcastle coverage, rather than pandering to what the club want you to read.

Pretty obvious that they're implying it came from one of our English players, and talking about Ben Arfa.

Ben Arfa's fitness issues? Aye, how the fuck was he supposed to keep up with his fitness levels if he was basically told to stay off exerting him hamstring?

That one is a  aswell. Even if it was an apparent French Player who said it, they do have relegation from Ligue1.  :idiot2:

Obvious where they are coming from like. I mean it's not as if we've ever had English players bleed this club dry whilst not putting in the effort on the pitch.

There comes a time when the news should be reported, and there comes a time when you back the fucking team and call for heads when the time is right. Whether these articles are true or not, its not really in the best interest of anybody to have these stories floating about when both clubs in the NE are battling relegation, irrespective of who people support.

I obviously know the paper and tabloid stuff is built on sensationalist stories, etc. Just my 2 cents that's all.

They're obviously referring to Willo. He only briefly tasted the joys of the Championship but absolutely loved it.

Newcastle's players today said they are 100 per cent united in their bid to ensure Premier League survival - and reacted angrily to false rumours of disharmony within the squad.

Senior players admitted they are hurting over recent results but strongly dismissed any suggestion of a rift within the dressing room.

Papiss Cisse said: "Every player is together. We are totally focussed on Saturday's game at West Ham and the two games after that. We have a strong bond and we want the best for our Club, our manager and our wonderful fans.

"We are not happy about recent results. Nobody is happy when they lose, but this has only made us stronger as a group and we will come through this together. There is no divide in the team."

The players insist that all members of the squad - including recent signings who arrived in January - are determined to turn things around.

"We want to let the fans know that all of the players are committed and we are in this together," said midfielder Cheick Tiote.

"We will fight to get out of this problem and we know our fans will help us to do that. They are incredible."

Newcastle United managing director Derek Llambias said: "The Club is determined to turn things around and everyone is working together to secure that goal. It is not helpful when people try and distract the team and the manager with false rumours."

The Magpies travel to West Ham on Saturday, followed by QPR the weekend after, before returning to St. James' Park for the final game of the season against Arsenal on Sunday, 19th May.

Lets hope it helps fire the boys up for the run in. We need everything we can get.

Edwards seems to have often gone for the sensationalist slant since he moved to the telegraph.  The choice of the phrase juicy story says it all, as if fans want to read anything like that at this fucking stage of the season when so much is at stake.

Good on the club, even if the stories are true, f*** them. The media are a bunch of c***s at the best of times. If only more clubs acted the same we might be able to rid the game of the s*** generated by the gutter press.

Tend to agree with this TBH, most football writers are barely literate and are incredibly lucky to be paid to do a job they're absolutely shite at. I don't have any sympathy for them at all.
