@Greg has the trust communicated with club in regards to Luton tickets. Will likely miss out by a point or 2. As much as i want a betfer atmosphere and agreed with owners comments how can club take 40% for ballot and corporate tickets. This is an absolute shambles from club

Not sure which thread this kind of discussion was taking place in, but...

While I didn't expect there was much hope of ID checks for away games being completely scrapped, I was hopeful that some kind of limited number of transfers (as with home tickets) would be brought in for away games, after multiple shambolic situations last season where seats had to go empty. Was there ever some kind of response to this?

Yes, from the results of the clubs survey/questionnaire, it seems it’s ’on the table’ so to speak.

Exactly when anything further will get announced relating to it, who knows, but IMO we will eventually get something along these lines, albeit the number of times you’re allowed to use it will probably be very limited.

Think the empty seats going empty was overblown. Mainly by a group of people who actually benefit from the old system. Amazing what stories you can tell with a well timed photo. Why ultimately would ID checks create empty seats?

Possibly overblown but ID checks created empty seats because people who could not attend late on - for whatever reason, illness, disruption etc, most notably I think when there was a train strike - were unable to pass the tickets on without fear of losing their points.

Or buyers get the dreaded 'red light' and walk away as agreed with the seller...

FWIW, I was in Brighton away last year and there was tonnes of empty seats.

I did a few others and I'd say, whilst not as obvious as Brighton, there were more empty seats than you might expect...

Which is a complete waste of time as once it’s been scanned the club know, so you may as well go to the box office and try and blag the replacement ticket.

is there an age limit to id checks?

the eldest is fine now with her student id and provisional license.

sick of taking kids' passports with me to away games.

The photos showed full rows. No way random people who couldn’t make it just happened to also sat together…

Let’s have a honest conversation about this. Some people made money from fans by owning a ridiculous amount of STs all with good points gained over the years set up as travel groups and connected to coach hire trips where they will find you a ticket if you go via that coach. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. It’s nothing to do with last minute illness. I get the train strikes ref I think the Spurs game but you can still return them to the club for refund uless the strike was announced within 48hrs of KO.

A new trait new is people not taking up their seats and cramming in with mates as standing allows usually a 2 for 1 ratio. Certainly 3 for 2.

If I recall the Brighton was the first game under the new rules (?) and it probably highlighted and caught out those who rely on others for tickets.

Im on both sides of the fence. Originally I used to always enjoy helping people out for the few games I didn’t attend always at face value. So yes I didn’t see the harm in one way as going to genuine fan. On the other side though there had to be a change to give others a chance. You can’t just have the same 3K fans controlling the whole system.

Hopefully a more balanced outcome between the two where you are allowed to pass 2-4  max per season to others as long as they have a full membership.

Also a more balanced punishment as losing all your loyalty points is extreme. Maybe a seasons worth or at most 50%.

Yeah was gonna mention this. Lads getting together and cramming the few front rows leaving empty ones further back.

Your solution is what I was expecting/hoping for and seems a good compromise.

no doubt there are people manipulating things and that, and there’s not mass illnesses but there are real  cases and I think it’s mad the ticket goes to waste. The year before last I couldn’t go to Everton cos I was ill and Sifu drove all the way from Manchester to Newcastle just to pick up my ticket. Someone who really wants it - now that’d be thrown in the bin. I can think of at least three other occasions when day-of I’ve not been able to make an away match and passed my ticket on. So yes I hope they bring in limited transfers.

(true I’m mostly invested because I want to be able to get a couple from my dad and the guy I passed my points to when I moved abroad. But I do also aside from that think it’s a silly situation)

It wasn’t a train strike iirc it was mass disruption on the trains meaning it was impossible to get down to London on the day in time for kick off. Tottenham away I think.

there are people who travelled all over who now miss out now that the unofficial travel clubs are affected or friends and family can’t pass tickets on but I’d rather the club tackle obvious touting at both home and away games and let people mass on a max of say 4/5 away tickets to registered contacts.

Yeah, unfortunately a few people blatantly and obviously taking the piss spoiled it for everyone.

Hopefully in a season or two things can be relaxed a bit again, as it seemed to me the touting side exploded over the past 5 years, I think it was pre takeover as well.

With 50 points and used to be able to go almost anywhere, and even pre covid found suddenly couldn’t get to games like West Ham anymore - and given regularly went to Upton Park, being unable to get tickets for the London stadium was odd, to me it suggests the touting had got out of control.

Who knows the police may also have had a word with the club and told them to look at who is going as about the scale as around the same time the amount of coke in the away end exploded.
