Though I don't think its a case of not being able to see past himself. IMO its a combination of him always wanting to go forward (either passing it forward or running himself), a total lack of movement in the side and poor form. Agree with what you have said, but both yesterday and the time he was on the pitch at Forest there were people in space and calling for a pass, and he totally ignored them to take defenders on.
