Unfortunately the penny dropped...

I'd be willing to bet that this £20m he's putting in is purely to cover wages til May. He's not 'investing' the cash, he's just keeping us ticking over in the hope we can continue to spawn our way to promotion.

Also, if he were to get a decent bid for the club in the next few months he'd sell us in a heartbeat. Officially we're off the market but if someone waves £80m in front of him he'd snap their hands off.

Well most of us know this, Ashley didnt say he would buy players with it so its obvious that running costs will be the only area to benefit tbf.

Still its amusing to see people still think he is raping the club each transfer window :mackems:

i'd say yes if someone offered him 100m plus up front he'd take it but thats not likely is it

I hate this, but bearing in mind the club's situation and the economy it would be madness to sell us now for a reduced price. I hoped he would do it, but I'm not surprised he isn't.

We can limp on till xmas, hopefully get some players back, then restructure the squad making sure its good enough to secure promotion. Then the gamble of keeping the club on is gone.

It's that simple.

if we can limp on untill xmas staying in 1st,2nd etc, then why would he invest money on players, he has proven hes a gambler and will say spend 20m or see if we can scrape over the line with what we have and save his 20m

Why would the retard sell this season if he's convinced he can get us to the Premier League with minimal investment and then charge some ridiculously inflated price?

If he wanted to go he would have gone.

I've stopped looking for any sort of logic in his decisions now.  ???

i more think if someone who actually had some cash came in and gave him the 100m up front he'd have been off and down to the casino in a flash

The problem with having a loose cannon in charge. No amount of 'stability' will help, the next fuck up is just around the corner

Given + N'Zogbia transfers - I think I was the only one on the "how much we will spend" thread to say He'd make a profit - what an unbelieveible concept.

It might net out at more like 6 or 7 but the point is the whole window was approached with an intention to make money.

Given and N'Zogbia wanting to leave was a convenient smokescreen

But he took this money out of the club?

Yes, he did.

Thanks for that.

Again, how and what evidence is there?

Surely if he wants to get back on side with "his customers" then a way forward might be to f*** DL off.

He doesn't.  In his own way he tried to get on side and it failed.  He is now making decisions firmly for business reasons and screw his customers.  Doesn't need to think about us, we have shown that it doesn't matter what he does to us he will still get the ticket money (and that is not meant as a call to boycott just a statement of fact.).

Exactly my thoughts on this whole situation.

Yes, he did.

See, it's like this: We had £10M in players who were sold. That's £10M of players out. The £10M in are nowhere to be found. They may have gone into wages or whatever, but those wages would normally have been paid anyway, so it's £10M out.

I reckon we will do something in January. Not saying he'll spend millions, but in this situation it also benefits him massively now for us to get promoted. It'll obviously really be determined by where we are in the table at that time, if we're in the clear ofcourse he wont. Outside of that i expect he will, he's seen what happens with lack of investment last season & Hughton also can use that against him. I dont see him risking us falling into the playoffs & doing nothing about it. At the very least he'll hire a random manager 12 games from the end of the season to replace Hughton if it isnt going to plan. He's shown he tends to deploy those kind of desperate tactics.

He gambled on us staying up without spending anything last year and lost. He's now gambling on us going straight back up without spending anything this year.

He's a fucking prick.

I don't even understand why he has to do that ? Surely the money the club brings in will cover that ? It used to just we had debts to manage before as well which was our problem. Now we have no debt as he has it so surely we can afford to run the club without the need of extra cash. So if the cash isn't paying for wages and isn't paying for players where is it going ??

Pity the penny still hasn't dropped for some of the nuggets on here.

He should have learnt from it. He's more desperate to get out now & he'll be very aware of the important of getting up if he wants to do that any time soon. It was also more unthinkable last season that we'd get relegated than it is this season that we wont get promoted. As i say it'll depend on where we are in the table though, if we're barely 1st/2nd he very well may just risk it once again yes.

I can't be bothered to do the maths but the idea that accounting for transfer profits from the summer, a huge reduction in the wage bill, probably larger than expected STs/gates and the parachute payment that we still are on course to make a £20m loss which has to be covered is bullshit.

The £20m is for me another lie.

Ashley has basically said "Your club?!! I think you'll find it's mine. Watch this, this is what I can do."

Then proceeded to take it off the market, appoint Hughton and change the name of the ground, all of which are likely to anger fans to varying degrees.

I really hate to say it, but it's at this point as much as I disagree with it boycotting might be the final solution.
