Danny Simpson (now retired)

Recommended Posts

Simpson lacks the sense to ever make it as a professional footballer - so how he fucking managed it I have no clue.  Whatever level he ends up being demoted to he will still play the same extremely limited game and still make the same massive errors.

Oh, but he's an athlete who gets lucky now and then...

He's not really that athletic.

We went deep into the Champions League with some absolutely shocking players at the back.

They were better, than the lot we have now though.

Aaron Hughes and Andy Griffin were better than him by miles, as average as they were.

Got to say how awful he looked again today, hopefully the manager and board saw the same things the fans did and not the one moment of decent play from him. Make you nervous as hell when the ball goes his way and offensively 99/100 kills our attacking momentum. Clearly we need a different type of full back with the way we play.

I liked Griffin. Tidy on-the-ball, and he let his opposite number know they were in for a contest. Just a pity that his body couldn't keep with his robust style.

Because the wing-battle is arguably the most isolated match-up on the park i'm not objectionable to seeing a fb laying into his man with a robust challenge, especially early. I like to see a fb knock a bit of the bravado out of a winger- create a bit of doubt, so they ll look to play the easy inside ball, ultimately smothering their width and penetration down one flank..

Simpson isn't a modern day attacking fb (as he tried to demonstrate today with his showboating at an opportune time in attack). Nor is he a shutdown specialist in defense, not even remotely close.  Right up there with Ramag  in the fucking limited footballer department. made worse when coupled with the billy bigbollocks persona. Ryder will probably get his usual in-the-aftermath (with the call to arms shite) exclusive though, ahead of the arsenal fixture

.

Nice detail (and i mean that, not taking the piss). ;)

You could have just put "he's shit". I'm sick of seeing such a poor footballer playing for us, him alongside Williamson just makes me want to cry tbh.

Got in to so many good positions offensively, imagine if we'd had Debuchy there instead, what a difference he would have made.

What if Debuchy turns out to be shit like

My lord we'd be fucked on here
