FWIW I'm not saying Janmaat is better or worse than Danny Simpson (or Debuchy), he's been horrible bar a handful of decent attacking displays this season. All I've said is that Simpson can actually defend somewhat and Janmaat costs us goals. That doesn't make Simpson a fabulous full back but he does form part of a good defence. He worked hard, was a good lad in and around the club and although he wasn't very good in the final 3rd I thought he often acquitted himself well defensively.
