RupertCommunicator
If we get a big offer - 7M plus, we should let him go and have Raylor at RB.
Guest WashyGeordie
so his kid is ill in hospital and he is pimping himself into a move? i doubt it. Well his agent does pretty much all the work so I don't see why not if he wants to go..

Cajun
If we get a big offer - 7M plus, we should let him go and have Raylor at RB. £7m We shouldn't let him go whatever, he is our best right back (who will be playing at right back anyway) and we won't have time to replace him. LoveItIfWeBeatU
http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-united/2011/09/04/danny-simpson-s-newcastle-future-is-in-doubt-79310-29358631/ Danny Simpson's Newcastle future is in doubt Sep 4 2011 by Mark Douglas, Sunday Sun NEWCASTLE United have added a right-back to their embryonic January shopping list – throwing the future of Danny Simpson into fresh doubt. Toon chiefs have instructed their scouts to source players in three positions for the New Year window – at full-back, centre-back and up front. It is the news Simpson’s position continues to be under threat which is most interesting development after the defender came close to departing for Aston Villa on Wednesday. The right-back was on the verge of penning a five-year deal earlier in the summer, but United are now looking at alternative options. Simpson would dearly love to stay at St James’ Park but there was interest from Villa, Celtic and QPR in him over the summer and he would not be happy to sit on the bench after two seasons as first-choice right-back. The Sunday Sun understands United also hope to resurrect their move for Mobido Maiga in January. The club’s recruitment team has been told to put together a list of players with six months left on their contracts. The Sochaux forward still heads the list of players United would like to add, although scouts have been given a remit including Holland, Germany, France and Spain. On the right-back front, a temporary move for former Sunderland loanee Nedum Onouha was one possibility discussed by United. Chelsea starlet Ryan Bertrand was also considered. The Sunday Sun understands Nolan Roux is another under consideration for January. The 23-year-old with Stade Brest had alerted United but was thought too raw. So if Santon is really a right-back who can play at left-back, would it not make more sense to look for a left-back and move Santon to the right if Simpson does leave. captainhaircut
Sounds promising. Although I'd rather we signed a left back and moved Santon to right back. Bertrand would be a good signing,
Ryan_Taylor
Aye, Simpson might not be the best, but I wish we'd stop getting rid of players that actually care about the club...

Guest Rainforest
credit where credit is due though, simpson is somewhat of a weak spot, good to see that they are at least adressing the issues of a CB, LB and a striker.. "with 6 months left on their contract" that should narrow down the search results though
Dr Venkman
Sounds promising. Although I'd rather we signed a left back and moved Santon to right back. agree, personally have no problem with us upgrading simpson. it might actually be foolish to give him a new contract at this point. if you look at out strongest 11 on paper he's clearly the weak link imo
