Internationally, I'm sure the middle finger is more renowned, and is therefore, a more suitable gesture to make towards an Argentinian. I'm sure Gary Neville weighed all this up beforehand. Genuine question like, he's always struck me as nothing more than a bit better than some other right backs. Consistently good. That's it. Don't think there's been a RB in the country who has performed week in week out as well over an extended period. And he's the only England player who's actually turned up for the some tournaments. After they'd spanked us 6-2, I think we'd diddled off somewhere after (probably to meet a friend), came back down under the Milburn and they had just got on the bus. He had a window seat and gave us 2 fingers. I would like to point out that this was probably because about 15 Mags, ourselves included, stopped to make wanker gestures at him first. A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off and shown the red card if he commits any of the following seven offences: 1. is guilty of serious foul play 2. is guilty of violent conduct 3. spits at an opponent or any other person 4. denies the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area) 5. denies an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick 6. uses offensive or insulting or abusive language and/or gestures 7. receives a second caution in the same match http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/federation/laws_of_the_game_0708_10565.pdf Fans aren't governed by the rules of play. Neville has been consistently one of the best full-backs in world football for a decade. Not at the same level as someone like Zanetti but very underrated due to him being a bit of a cock.
