Guest Roy the Irish Magpie
This man made Switzerland the 3rd best team in the world! That is some achievement that won't be matches for some time. If he can do that with a small nation like them then imagine what he could potentially do to England! Something tells me England have made a good choice. I hope, for England's' sake anyway, that, no matter what, he gets to manage them beyond the euros so he has a proper chance to show what he can do (provided he doesn't have instant success in the euros). Guest ObiChrisKenobi
It seems that the main argument against Roy (from what I've seen on Facebook anyway) is that he failed at Liverpool. Bullshit argument if you ask me. Daily Mail's take was something along the lines of 'FA choose Liverpool flop' as a main headline. Whilst Martin Samuel cunted on in that article posted many pages back. Followed by this self-congratulatory bullshit today: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2137536/Martin-Samuel-Roy-Hodgson--him.html Gets absolutely destroyed in the comments section. Doubt anyone of any importance will read them however.
timeEd32
Unfortunately he'll never be given the time to achieve any sort of success unless he pulls a miracle in June.
SUPERTOON
At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter who the manager is. The current players are not good enough, the young players coming through are not strong enough to match other nations. The whole set up is a joke, until there are major changes in the FA, then the national team will continue to struggle.

But England do have world-class players there's little doubt about it, they just never play as well for the country as they do for their clubs, maybe Hodgson can change that. Guest ObiChrisKenobi
England have Wayne Rooney as the only real stand out player. The rest are talented, but hugely overhyped. Not sure any team in the top half has more than half of their starting XI consist of English players. Man City - Hart/Milner/Richards/Barry Man U - Rooney/Smalling/Jones/Young/Carrick/Scholes Arsenal - Wilshire Newcastle - S. Taylor/R.Taylor/Simpson/Guthrie Chelsea - Terry/Lampard/Sturridge/Cahill Tottenham - Parker/Defoe/Walker/Dawson Mediocre.

Okay Hart is a world class keeper for starters and then players like Rooney who puts in very good shifts for United regularly but doesn't always perform as well when he's in a English jersey. If Royo can get the best out of England's players, trust me, it'll be last 4 at least. They are good enough if they perform their best and, like I pretty much have been saying, it's up to Roy to ensure they do that.
Anderson
It's painfully predictable what'll happen at the Euros, man. We'll lose to France in the groups, finish runners-up, which will set-up a quarter final against the Spanish in which we'll get dicked.

Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Have you ever known an England side to have such a weak forward line as this generations? That used to be our thing. Tough as nails CB with a deadly forward. Linaker/Beardsley Shearer/Sheringham Shearer/Owen Owen/... HESKEY?! Rooney/... HESKEY?! HESKEY?! Defoe Crouch Welbeck

Ask any top player in the world who England's world class players are and he's usually one of the first names they come out with.
