He's gone, 8million to stoke, Mensa and Onahue (sp), confirmed. If he's allowed to spend that 8 million they'll start to look like comfortable mid tablers, I doubt he will get that money to spend though, so still seeing them as a lower mid table side outside bets to go down, but will more than likely be safe.

To continue the earlier discussion of the state of their squad: it couldn't be more average by PL standards if it wanted to. Can see nothing other than a 10th-12th place finish, purely because they have a striker who'll bang in 20 goals to ensure they won't be fighting relegation.

Lad from work who watches them says Jones is one of the laziest players he's seen in a Sunderland shirt, and he gets easily beaten in the air due to his inability to be able to jump.

Even admitted that he used to big him up as that's what fans do when they're there's to rival fans, but only slightly better than Shola was his honest view.

Signed a load of mediocre shite, same as last year - if Bent gets injured they aint got anyone to score goals.

Also every team in the prem knows what they need to do to beat the scum - stop Bent, and it'll be interesting to see if he is as affective this season.

i wonder if last seasons goal scoring exploits were partly motivated to prove himself for world cup and how much missing out on it will affect him

Stoke manager Tony Pulis has revealed record signing Kenwyne Jones has taken a significant pay cut to join the Potters.

It is understood Jones was earning around £60,000 per week in his final contract with the Black Cats, way beyond Stoke's financial clout.

But as well as agreeing to spread the £8million paid for Jones over a period of four years, Sunderland have also assisted Stoke with regard to the wages.

Notice on the fantasy league Bent is listed as doubtful for the first game with  back injury an all.
