I think it will be a great game, they want it too much may put too much presure on them.

Our team seams to thrive on the bigger stressful game....cometh the the time...

Wish I managed to get a ticket :-[

I was talking to a lad who is on Sunderland's academy today and he says Welbeck is out. And he is pally with lads at Newcasl=tle as he used to be there, and that this is the team:

                Harper

Simpson  Collo  Willi  Enrique

Barton  Smith  Nolan  Jonas

          Best    Shola

Defeat on the cards if true like.

just been looking at the training photos and from looking at the training match it looks like it could be Lovenkrands and Best upfront,  they were wearing the blue bibs along with the likes of Nolan, Jose, Colo, Simpson, Williamson etc.

loven came on when shola turned his ankle. if sholas fit he plays i'd reckon.

Move barton in the middle instead of smith, routledge on the right. Or risk gosling. Just no smith, please.

Exactly.

Smith setting foot on the park should be the absolute last resort. He'll get booked within 15 mins would be my bet of the day.

I hope we put Lovenkrands alongside Shola if they're both fit.  I don’t think the three points are beyond us, a draw is easily possible.

got to put shola in on a horses for courses basis, however i liked the way loven and best linked up against west ham.

Sunderland are not West Ham and the atmosphere is something that Shola will thrive on, it's one of those games he'll be up for.

look at the personnel in that west ham defence then look at sunderlands. not a great deal of difference, anton ferdinand possibly for crying out loud. west hams problem is having one midfielder and no forwards.

basically any 2 from the 3 providing it means playing 2 up front and not playing smith or guthrie.

Oh yeah....as long as Shola is fully fit.

this time last week we were getting a kick in the balls when we lost Tiote,  then yesterday we took another blow to the solar plexes when Carroll was ruled out.  Leaving Shola out could be one hit too many.  He's now back in training and declared fit so must play.

West Ham have let in almost twice as many goals as the mackems, they are like chalk and cheese.

arsenals defence of tony adams etc would have struggled behind that midfield. sunderlands defence isn't that good but they have a very workmanloke midfiled to compensate for it, though if clattermole and mayler are out....who knows ?

But the mackems don't handle big strikers too well. Carroll and Shola terrorised them at St James.

I'm not sure what we're arguing here as I know the midfield contributes to the defence.

what i'm saying is that best and loven could work aswell against sunderlands back line as they did against west hams.

honestly can't decide who i'd pick upfront for this though.

I've said it before, I'd go for Shola and Lovenkrands because I think Shola will be up for this game and I think Lovenkrands will handle the pressure brought on by the probable atmosphere which he's experienced at Rangers.  It might not work out that way but it should do.

If he plays Smith and loses, he should do the decent thing and resign immediately. He's not a decent person though.

why, cos he shagged someone elses bird ?

Because he spent November praying for us to lose so his mate wot he met dahn the casino would give him a job.

do you not think a lot of managers are contacted before the predecessors are booted out ?

for example is there any truth in the o'neill/grant situation ?

if these behind the back deals make you so angry you ought to give up on football as players, coaches, managers are doing them all the time.
