taxfree
The Chronicle had something about it tomorrow. We'll probably (?) get to know more then. I have no doubt they did like.
cp40
I'm not convinced they went for Barton. It seems especially stupid for them to throw wages at him when they certainly need a left back, left winger and striker as a priority. what they really need is a manager-- but shhh dont tell them. midds
I think they did go for him and made an offer but wouldn't have offered him anywhere near £75k a week.

Just a few of the foreign cities Newcastle have played competitive European football in. Tomorrow the macums are playing a competitive match in Swansea. Cajun
They definitely went for Barton, they are so small time they would try anything to 'get one over' on us.
KaKa
Bruce ha sbeen moaning they can't score goals, and so wouldn't be at all surprised if they are in for Bendtner, unfortunately. Bruce also had him on loan at Birmingham, where he did very well. Pretty annoying if Bendtner ends up there.

Guest Haris Vuckic
It's amazing how losing the derby can be the catalyst for their entire season to go wrong. It would have been exactly the same if you lot had lost it, don't kid yourself any different. No it wouldn't of because we look at it realistically ergo we aren't shocked if we receive a result other than a win.
Wilson
http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=621796 They refuse to believe that they wanted Barton. If we'd been acting interested I'm sure it was only mind-games in an effort to unsettle him

It's not like he's been given the funds, nor gone out and hand-picked 2 strikers this summer already.

Cajun
Hadn't looked at the figures likes that, from January and summer sales both North East clubs brought in around £44m. Conspiracy?
ponsaelius
It was £18 million upfront for Bent and slightly less for Henderson apparently.
ponsaelius
Didn't a large part of the Bent fee have to go back to Spurs for some reason too?

They've hardly touched the £44M they got for Bent and henderson. Bent was £18m rising to £24m maximum. Over £6m of that went straight to Spurs. Henderson was £16m I think. Rising to £20m. £34m in guaranteed payments from those 2 transfers, minus £6m = £28m. £8-9m rising to £12m on Wickham. Gardner for £6m. O'Shea £4m. Elmo £2m. Dong £2m. Wes Brown £1.5m. O'Shea and Brown in particular will be on significant wages I imagine. Total fallacy that Sunderland haven't spent much. By my calculations, nearly all of the money they can actually count on making from the sales of Bent and Henderson, has been spent by Steve Bruce in the summer.
