Tidy player but any better than Guthrie? Plus that injury is a concern.

Undecided on this one.

What is there to decide? It is a twenty year old with Premiership experience on a free in a position in which the club are thin. Definitely worth the risk.

Btw, was it him that nearly died in a match or one of Everton's other players.

It was Duffy who nearly died recently.  Gosling has a serious knee injury that will keep him out until about Christmas.

He's a decent enough squad player but thats about it.  Has a good brain on him and always likely to get into scoring positions but has no pace whatsoever.  Probably better for him if he moves as he's 8th/9th choice for midfield at Goodison.

As for McFadden - great skill but again no pace.  Didn't improve in his years at Goodison so again, like Gosling, I wouldn't get too excited.

It was another player, young irish lad called Shane Duffy who lacerated his liver.

My mate is a big everton fan and is shocked that they've lost him, didn't think he was ever going to be a world beater but would have become a regular in the first team there over the next couple of seasons.

Tbf, we're hardly after those sorta signings that are going to excite. Players that will comfortably help us into the 11th-14th zone are ay-okay.  Don't know masses about either but i'd have both McFadden and Gosling. One is a very seasoned, half-decent player and the other has recent experience whilst looking fairly good n'all. Both steps above the majority of our squad - and we need to fill the thing out anyway.

I'll have Gosling in a flash.

Aye. What a monumental fuckup by Evertons board.  :mackems:

I can't even imagine the outrage on here if our lot had done the same.

If we can offer him first team football then why not indeed.

Can they not just offer him a contract now, which he will likely sign?

It would appear he now doesn't want to sign a new contract and wants more first team football.

It is a ridiculous cock up so thats where the rage is rather than losing one of the weakest players in the squad.

I am not keen tbh. From what I have seen I don't particularly rate him and don't think he is better than what we have.  Also don't like how he seems to have totally turned his back on Everton who have given him a good chance. Sounds a bit like someone that wants more money which is probably why we won't end up getting him.

Why would we want someone who's crocked btw?

Because he's for F-R-E-E.

Very expensive if he's crocked. And as pointed out above, he sounds like a bit of a money grabber tbh.

Villa managed to sign downing.

plus liverpool with aqua

Yeah I've never understood the whole medical thing while injured players still get signed, like Obertan at Man U had some weird problem that the Bordeaux physios never picked up and they've had to be working on that.

He's young and costs nowt. He won't be available for a while but we need bodies in our squad. He could turn out to be a really good player, too. It's extremely low-risk, in spite of the injury, imo.

Are there any footballers that aren't money grabbers?
